Hello, I just would like to ask about living in Fuenta De Piedra? We have been there couple of weeks ago to view houses and we are thinking to buy house there as quiet holiday house and then move there for retirement. When we have been there, we saw some English speaking people around so I would like to ask how is the area. Is this is a quite and secure place to have a house there? In general is anyone regret that he got sick house there? I would love to know it as much as I can before we will make decisions on purchase. Thank you for your help in advance . Katie

Hi Katie,

We had a house in Fuente de Piedra for 10 years. The village is very nice quiet village with plenty of bars and festivals in July /September. Theres buses to Malaga. and trains at Bobadilla about 10 miles away. It takes about 50 minutes to drive to Malaga or the beach. The village can get quite cold during the winter with frosts early morning and sometimes snow. In summer it can be quite hot with temperatures reaching 45 degrees. The village is safe but we did have a spate of burglaries on our estate although our house was ok. The local spanish in Fuente are very friendly and there are a number of english living in the village who have retired in Fuente. A very nice village but can be really quiet through the winter months.

regards

Benenden

Hi  Oh thank u for your respond  That are great information  more then I wanted. What really worry me is the Bulgarians. That what I heard about as well  That there is a problem in the area about braking in to a empty houses. Not about Fuenta de Piedra but about Sierra de Yeguas. So That is why I just wanted to know. I have been in town and I really liked it. I do not mind quiet and chilly winters  As long as from April till November is nice. And I been there in November and was nice and sunny.

Hi Katie

I just saw your post .

We have a house on the pink estate on the left as you enter the village.

there are a lot of empty houses in the village and a lot of these have been broken into ( its happening all over Spain ).

For sure if you buy a house here you will need bars on all the windows and if you have a garage or outhouse you need strong locks on those as well.

Robbers attempted to break into my house but failed however they did manage to break into the garage and steal a lot of stuff so replacing all that + the damage to the doors etc cost a lot of money.

If you buy a house in the village - please ensure that you have a freind or neighbour who can check the house every day and empty the post box to deter any would be theives !

Otherwise the area is lovely - the village is very quiet in the winter and the houses very cold so you will definately need heating.

We bought a house through the agency. I believe it is the most safe variant for you
