I wish some people would use a bit of common sense.  A fully laden self drive furniture van pulled up outside of block 13 yesterday and drove right onto the pavement whereupon four or five pavement tiles cracked badly.  Obviously realising what they had done because it made quite a noise they drove off and re parked on the other side of the road to take furniture into block 9.  The pavement is really bad with the tiles stuck dangerously up in the air now.  We did mention it to security but the man in the gate said he didn't understand.

Drivers seem to do this all over the place.  Walking down to the port there are so many places where vehicles have cracked up tiles.  In DV its hasn't been too much of an issue but one careless driver can causes 100's Euros worth of damage in seconds. We all end up paying for this damage. Extra costs on the rates and additional service charges.

In many places the tiles have been repaired only to be damaged again making it unpleasant and danagerous for pedestians.

The only long term answer is to make pavements more robust as there will always be thoughtless drivers mounting the curbs.

But those who cause the damage if caught in the act should be made to pay.
