Apartment insurance

Hi,

Can anyone recommend an insurance company for buildings and contents in Spain that has no issue in communicating or settling claims in English. I have the insurance cover currently with the bank that set up the mortgage. Does anyone have any experience in dealing with them?

I used Intasure at first ( http://www.intasure.com/ )  and while their policy had great cover etc the premium increased dramatically later with the result that I moved to Knight Insurance Brokers in Los Boliches who have given me good service since. I am sure they will be able to advise you properly and provide quotes as required. Contact details below:

We've been with Intasure since the beginning but I am not confident that they would be good at dealing with a claim so plan to move to a local company when I renew this autumn - I'll certainly look at Knight.

An important point is that we all need insurance. I know of some neighbours who don't have it. The community insurance only covers the parts of the buildings the community is responsible for. We all need contents and buildings insurance for our individual apartments

We have been with Kaas&Kirkemann from the first day. I do not know if they are cheap or have good coverage, but we wanted to be able to deal with any problem in our own language, if we will ever need to benefit from the insurance.  They speak danish, swedish, english and spanish. We have got the insurancepolicy in english and their conditions in danish (also available in English I think) Their office is in Centro Idea - on the road to Mijas, so they are quite local.

Our parents also have an apartment in Spain, and they have had 3 burglaries. They had to pay their lawyer to deal with the spanish insurance company. Quite expensive

 Hi i use knight insurance for my car as well thinking they are local and easy to call but if you need to make a claim you have to go through there head office that is no on the costa del sol.As i am in england i can not check the area of spain Irene
