I was wondering if one of the residents could give an indication of the annual costs of running a car and how much you should budget for?.

Are Insurance premiums calculated as in the uk ie dependant on claims history, age of driver, performance and risk of the car.

How do premiums compare approximately to the UK?

What other costs are there, ie road tax, MOT equivilent

Cheers

Paul

Hello Paul

Depending on what kind of car you have or are planning to buy.The insurance in Spain is for the car not the person. So when you insure the car anyone can drive it with your permission obviously and as long as they have a license. The more restrictions you put on it the better ie drivers over a certain age. I believe you also have to have some form of breakdown cover which is normally included with fully comp insurance. You also have road tax but not as expensive as uk but again is determined by the vehicle. In Spain they have the ITV which is same as MOT in uk.If your car is under 10years old you only need an ITV every two years.

No problem, if anybody dose buy a car and is going to use an airport carparking company, get  the deal that lets you move the car from ALC 2 MJV and the other way round ,so if your car is at  the Murcia carpark and the flights are cheaper into ALC they will drive your car to ALC. This service can save  a bit of money.i use compay called   who are bril lhttp://www.airportparkingmurcia.com/ they have never let me down and i use about evey 4/5 weeks,i think in time they are going into corvera airport.
