At the last AGM I suggested that the community would benefit with community Freesat system, it was proposed that I obtained a quote. I sourced a company Television Technology who met Lynda (President), Peter (Committee Member) and myself regarding a site survey. They also commented on the state of the existing wiring left by the work of all the different previous re-broadcasting companies, but they could remedy this problem.
Television Technology being Community Satellite Installation Specialists acted in a polite and professional manner throughout the entire survey.

Initially we need a minimum of 35 households for this project to go ahead. When you consider that you are paying 20 euro’s a month to re-broadcasting company, this system will have paid for itself in no time at all, and could even add value to your property or rental potential.

Television Technology have been invited to attend our next meeting on the Friday 28th May which would enable any residents to ask any queries they may have regarding this system.

Below is a copy of the quote and links to Television Technology.

Further to our meeting earlier this week, please find comments & quotation below.

Urbanisation Torre Alcantara

Equipment requirements:

2.4 Metre Portuguese prime focus dish & mount

Invacom Quattro LNB, Large feedhorn

5000 metres +/- subterranean low loss shielded cable
Mains cable 200m +/-

6 Technisat German made head end amplifiers
10 Multiswitches, Technisat - Initial capability of 80 outputs.

Based on dish installation point of the community comms building as discussed.

Cable is an expensive element of this system and it is important to not cut corners with this type of equipment. Many companies install standard coaxial cable, which when mounted underground and exposed to damp will deteriorate and cause signal issues / loss potentially after 2 years. Using subterranean cable, whilst more expensive is recommended in this type of application where long term stability is required.

Installation is estimated to take 20 working days. A more comprehensive site survey will be required to confirm everything prior to any works starting. Total installation period will vary depending on the amount of final connections - initially based on 35 individual household connections as a starting point.

Costs & comments

This system will allow connection to the service for all members throughout the site, as well as in the future. We can add in extra ports for connections. Any additional equipment required for this is absorbed in individual connection cost. All community members who wish for connection pay an equal amount. Equipment is property of the contributing members of the community.

35 household connections €280

45     "                 "          €260
60     "                 "          €240

Price is for single connection point in individual household and based on initial connections when system is put in place.

2nd connection within household, for additional room (or twin tuner receiver) + €80 (cable & labour). Community members can have as many multiple outputs as they require.

Individual householders are responsible for payment.

Satellite receivers are priced separately from main installation.

Community members are under no obligation to purchase satellite receivers from ourselves - please note that we cannot warrant equipment brought in elsewhere. Should householder have a fault, and it is determined that it is due to equipment not supplied by ourselves, then a call out charge will apply.

Guarantees

Dish & cable 5 years. All additional equipment - amplification, multiswitches & satellite receivers are covered by manufacturers guarantee. Maintenance is included for the 12 months.
