Dining table ideas??

Hi.

Have had the apartment (2 bed) for a year now,and nearly finished furnishing and it's liveable.

The one thing I can't seem to find however is decent dining room table and chairs to fit the space.

They seem to be too big,or tacky or both.

Has anyone found a good solution,from a store nearby??

I know it's down to choice but just thought someone might have an idea??Maybe square glass or something?

My wife saw a table and chairs in Ikea which could be OK for the small space. Not my cup of tea but might be worth a look. I think the set is called Fusion.

I have a first floor apartment and I know it is all down to taste and functionality but if it helps I use a rattin table and chairs with a glass top and it goes outside on the small terrace for breakfast etc but comes inside when apartment not used or need something more formal with a cloth on.

Hi I got a nice wooden table at four plumas store at the front shops opposite barclays bank on the way into the port of mazarron and it opens up to a 6/8 seater but when folded it seats 4 very neatly tucks away into the corner and looks very nice.

I have seen the fusion stuff,just think a bit small etc,and have been to the 4 plumas,didn't see anything..

Maybe it's just me.But not that big a deal,I hope to see something in the sales,out on the 30th.

Have you seen the glass table and four chair set from DFS Murcia? They were doing it for 349 Euros and the chairs slide right in under the table so very good on space. Not everybodys cup of tea though but we're happy with it.

Just looked on the site for you and it says currently out of stock but migh be worth conacting them to see if they are going to get some more in.

Perhaps I am over-cautious but if you intend to rent out then glass tables may not be so child-friendly as wooden ones.  My friends rent on La Manga Club every year and last year their 3 year old son went right through a glass-topped coffee table when the top tipped over - he ended up with a severed finger (which will be permanently damaged) and was rushed to hospital in Cartagena.  Hopefully a one-off but even before this happened I had decided not to put any glass furniture in my own apartment just in case.

Blimey that's a horror story! Poor little mite. I'd not thought about that, having said that the table we bought has toughened safety glass I have been assured.

Hi John,

There's not much space to fit a table in, so I'd stick to something around 90x90.  We got the Bjursta from IKEA, fine for 4 people and expands upto 90x168

Just in passing I saw an interesting idea on the sf-supplies website..

A slightly bigger table,that when not in use,goes tight to the back wall with no chair at that side..

Then the two side chairs tight to the end legs of the table,and the third one then able to fit in neatly facing the back wall(If that makes sense)

The extra one could either go in the main bedroom,or in my case in the living area as I only have a l-shaped sofa..

It means it can be used for casual dining,and when having a meal can be brought out and make a good 4 seater with an extension..

Just a thought.
