Hi all,

Can anybody throw any light on this IRRESPONSIBLE dog owner.

Our cat was attacked and Very badly injured, including a badly broken back leg,he is in a very bad way and has to go for an operation on Monday if he dosnt die before then. Even then the vets cannot gaurantee he will be alright as its broken very near the hip joint.

This happened around 3 o clock this afternoon on the garden area towards the end of calle Albaricoquero, we know this as we found fur and sisns of a fight in the dirt. We assume the dog has scratch injuries.

Did any one see this prize pratt walking their dog with no lead.Do they not know it is illegal not to have a restrained dog.

If any one can give me any info, please PM me.   Many thanks.

I.m in England at present, and I have always had a dog, which is always kept on a lead, apart from the law it is alao clearly safer.  But how you have the front to blame the dog owner I don,t know.  I take it you let your cat roam free day and night so it can do its business in other peoples property,  who then have to clear it up.  If you don,t want your cat getting injured keep it in your property and clear up after it yourself.

I.m not sure about the legislation in Spain but if it,s the same as the UK cats are classed as vermin,  if you knock one down in your car you don,t even have to stop as you do with other animals such as dogs , sheep and Cattle.  So if you want to keep vermin keep them indoors.

We are also dog owners and the likes of you, we suggest YOU stay indoors.

This dog has been known to attack two cats now and we have proof of this and witnesses, it is clearly not restrained properly,so down to a irresponsible dog owner.

Also ,going by the amount of dog shit around our estate which every one is moaning about there are clearly bad irresponsible people living here.

We sincerely hope your dog is not attacked by another dog, would you class this as vermin???

Also our cat is locked in at night and does his buisness in a dirt tray, and as to let it roam free, its in a cats nature.

As for calling cats vermin, what planet are you on,obviously you are not an animal lovers.

Thank you for all the support we have had from all the animal lovers here.

Firstly you clearly display the type of person you are by the use of the unacceptable language, on a chat page open to be viewed by anyone including children.

Secondly you protest too much, so I come to the conclusion that I hit a nerve and your vermin was roaming free, to be attacked by a dog that was not under control. In my opinion both owners were at fault. But clearly your opinion is the only one that counts.

If you love your vermin as you state, keep it indoors, and then you can preach to the dogowner to keep his dog under control.

Nice speaking
Tony

Plenty of cat lovers in San Cayetano, so please dont move here.

Your post is not really worthy of a reply.

Please dont  judge my character by what is written in this forum, we call a spade a spade, and every body knows about the dog shit problem here.

More bad language, Tut Tut.

The truth does seem to hurt.

As I said before keep it in and off other peoples property and it won,t get hurt.

Do try to be more thoughtful to your neighbours so they don,t have to clear up after your vermin.

It appears the truth is far to painfull for you, so as not to cause any further pain to someone who might be my neighbour.

You are correct, anyone should be permitted to let their wonderful cats out night or day to piss and shit ( your word not mine) on other peoples property.  And it is only right that they should then clear up after the cat and not complain.

Then if while out using the toilet facilities, the cat is attacked by someones dog, that is also not controlled, the the dog owner should be held responible and pay any vets bills.

If the cat owner then puts his feelings on a public chat room on the web asking for coment, he can then become abusive to anyone who disagrees with him as his views are clearly the only views that can be considered .

Hope that makes you feel better now I whole heartedlly agree with you.

P.S.  Was the other cat out with it,s owner or was it using the toilet facilities also.

try not to use foul language in your reply.

Every one is entitled to their opinion, but this should be based on facts......with respect...you were not here...you do not know the true facts of this incident. Would you have been so vocal if it had been a child that had been attacked, I wonder ???

As for cats being vermin...well they certainly help to keep the development clear of true vermin..mice, rats etc

The house next to ours is empty......will you be our neighbour ???   ho hum !!!!!!!

again I ask " did both parties have there animals loose and unrestrained " i think the answer is yes, So why is one more at fault than the other.

I don,t think you have a reasonable answer, other than the usual selfish cat owner tripe.

If you want to keepan animal, the clue is in the word KEEP not feed and let everyone else clear up after it.

Hello all,

I cant believe how much nastyness and bad feeling there is over this unfortuanate incident, i have the deepest sympathy fot the injured cat owners and am thankful a recovery seems to be on the way.I must agree with Tony in his comments( not his manner) that the cat owner cannot lay all blame on the dog irrespective of whether it was on or off a lead. I think people are missing a vital point, that being Dogs and Cats are natural enemies this type of situation is allways going to happen. I myself while walking my dog on a lead have had to fend off a startled cat who reacted to being suprised by my dog by attacking ( a natural fight or flight response). The only way this will stop is to keep all cats and dogs inside at all times, this will never happen so we must accept these situations will occur.

In the current situation in Spain i would prefer we all put as much effort into the bigger issues we are facing, negative equity due to Tarays broken promises etc etc.I am not over at the moment but when i do get there i was hoping tto reside in a community where we could all turn to one another in time of need .....not as it seems be at each other passing the blame instead of trying to find solutions

Martin

Martin,

Would just like to let you know that this year I have been fortunate to spend a lot of time in San Cayetano and loved every minute of it.  I have made a lot of friends there and, as we have been fighting for our facilities on Manzana 3, the working together has been fantastic.  Facilities now, at long last, being built.

This is just to let you know that San Cayetano is a lovely place to live/holiday - I am just waiting for my retirement to perhaps decide to live there permanently.

As you say we have all been told conflicting stories by Taray over the years (I took my property over in March 2007) but that is a totally different issue.

If you do eventually move over there just enjoy the experience!  I always do on my visits.

Regards

Pinot

Thank you Martin for your kind comments, its going to be a slow recovery for my cat, and yes i do agree with you regarding the behaviour of cats and dog, i have dogs as well as the cat..this wasnt what the thread was about, we just thought that someone had a dog loose that could not only attack cats it could of been someones dog or god forbide a child.. we now know the dog owner and  know what happened, and he comes round to see how the cat is..

San Cayetano is a lovely place to live and we have many lovely friends here, and it is a community that will support  and help you whenever you need it... I know that not every one is a cat lover and i respect that, but i cannot respect someone that  badmouths me  just because of my love for cats. the world is full of nasty people and i hope we dont get nasty people living here!

Regards Anita

Hi

Whilst there are many responsible owners who clean up their dogs poo, there are also lazy disgusting people who leave it when they think they can get away with it. My daughter has stepped in some today.... 50euros trainers in the bin and my rug will have to go as well. A big thank you to the lazy rotter who couldnt be arsed to bend down and clean up after their dog! Thank god there is more clean people than the disgusting ones!

3hrs later,,,Thanks to my lovely neighbours who helped me get sorted. My house now smells like the inside of a dettol bottle which is better then smelling like the inside of a dogs ass!!!
