As i mentioned about the aircon i found them through Furniture Centre España SL. They have a great showroom and range of furniture. I found that i have ordered my whole package for just over 8000€ thats an approximate saving of some 5-7000€ between DFS and Murcia furniture and of cours Calaidonia....

Use the loyalty then for the white goods and lights etc your quids in.

Service was superb and they are due to fit in a couple of weeks

I have had several properties in countries in europe over the years some which I have rented out and some which we have used as a family. I have learned a few things with regard to furnishing and hope that the following tips will be helpful.

With regard to furniture it is important firstly to consider what you are going to use the property for. If it is a bolthole in Spain and you intend to use it for weekends and holidays when you can, you should spend your money on things like quality mattresses, storage bed bases as the storage in the apartments and villas is in short supply. Good quality white goods and a reliable and good quality air con system are a must, as air con is relied on for almost all of the summer months, particularly inland. A decent quality sofa, dining set and terrace furniture are all worth investing in as they will give years of service if you go for quality up front. I know several of our neighbours in Roda who rent their property,  are on their second and sometimes third set of sunbeds and terrace chairs after two and a half years. Well made and properly hung drapes make a big difference and the curtains supplied with some furniture packages leave a lot to be desired and need to be replaced after a very short time.

If you are renting al of the above applies equally as if you only spend a small amount the quality will not withstand the abuse it will take from your renters who never, ever respect your property the way you would. The quality of the beds will determine whether people will come back to rent your apartment again so spend reasonable money on beds and bedding. Bedding and towels from the cheaper stores will not stand up to the bleaching and washing required by most cleaning companies so choose this carefully and be prepared to spend a bit more on linens as these have to be replaced more often if they are cheap quality. The market for renting on Roda is highly competitive and there is no reason to suspect that it will be different on Corvera so your photographs and the quality of the fit out and finish of your property will determine your rental bookings.

I hope that this is useful for new buyers.

Don

Jonles,

I am afraid you are not comparing the same thing. Murcia Furniture, Caladonia and DFS dont supply flat pack furniture, its like saying a 4 door LADA is the same as a 4 door Volkswagen, there is a genuine reason for the difference. Give it 6 months rental use and then you will know why quality is important.

Actually Pam you are wrong as one of the suppliers that you have listed does supplly some flat pack furbniture which they assemble before delivery

Mainly TV units and some tables

FCE do not supply flat pack as their ranges their furniture is all solid wood, so I believe, as I have a great deal of experience in this area from having to inspect the furniture once installed, by all of these suppliers,  that your analogy is not correct

The facts are that some local organisations, where they don´t have the spend on infrastructure, advertising etc are able to accept much smaller margins, plus they may bu¡y end of ranges with special offers. In 2of these retailers I have seen the SAME LEATHER SOFA, manufactured in Spain, €120 cheaper from one supplier compared to another

I know for a fact that some of the older supplers such as Villapac were operating at a 70% margin, yes furniture supply can be very profitable

I am certainly not kncoking the quality of service that all of these organisations provid as they are all good reliable suppliers

I personally would not buy a complete furniture pack form anybody preferring to save money by shopping around for things like linen, kitchen packs and pictures

Roy,

I am only telling people to make sure they are comparing like with like. Two photgraphs on an e-mail of 2 items can look almost identical

The fact that lines are assembled in a shop or in the house doesnt stop the construction being flatpack i.e. arriving from the manufacturer in pieces. Most dining tables and wardrobes and other large items have to be due to inability of delivery and the transport cost but not dining chairs, bedside drawers etc  A flat pack laminate chipboard drawer is much weaker than one that has dovetails and is made from solid wood etc. Although the latter may cost twice as much, it will last 10 times as long. Which is the better value for money????

I know you have a relationship with FCE as they are on your site but you are trusted by alot of people and if you say  " FCE do not supply flat pack as their ranges their furniture is all solid wood, so I believe, as I have a great deal of experience in this area from having to inspect the furniture once installed"   they may believe you.  BUT it is a fact that this is not true. FCE sell many ranges that are NOT SOLID WOOD and that are FLAT PACK.

If you would like me to go through their website and list them I will do but if you know the furniture you should already know which ones.

This is not meant to be any type of attack on anyone just to tell people on the forum to make sure they are comparing like for like products and to be aware that if they are going off just a picture it can be misleading. The best way to buy is to see the product in the flesh. And as you say, shop around.

We agree you get what you pay for.

Our property is now ready and we are in Roda at the moment for a week sorting things out.

A lot of choice for furniture and different quailty available here.We met a very nice English lady who lives on Roda and she suggested  who she used for her apartment. She kindly showed us her apartment and we were very impressed.

We are meeting the interior designer lady later today to see what they have to offer and will report back tonight.

We are completing on Corvera in the next month and although we are in no hurry to furnish as we won't be moving in until after Christmas, we had been checking things out regarding purchasing packs or doing it ourselves. The costs of doing it ourselves in relation to time away from home/work, cost of flights, car hire and hotel bills do not stack up and we have several options which we were considering.

I just read the Forum posting on general issues Furnishing your Property in the General Forum titled Murcia Furniture and it mostly does not make good reading so perhaps a word of caution in there for some of you who have mentioned that you are intending to use that company and worth having a look at although I have no personal experience of using them.

Hello again, sorry we did not post last night as promised but we had a long and interesting day.

We met Maura yeterday and she showed us different villas and apartments  she helped furnish on Roda before we left for Corvera.

Having seen and discussed many different options we then went to look at what was available.

We ended up over five hours later having managed to cover everything on her list ,including a few things we never thought about and I can say we are delighted with the result of our day out.

Everything we needed was available under one roof .The quaitly was excellent  and the choice was amazing.

For the quailty of what we saw we felt it was priced accordingly.

It is going to be  delivered and installed by agreed dates.

We had been to see a few different furniture companies in the region and thought about doing it ourselves but would agree with Fair Dues that it is not worth the time and effort.

It makes a big difference when you are with somebody who knows where to go to and can speak the language.

We are now happy and relieved and looking forward to coming back to our fully fully furnished  Canela in October.

Stress free .

P.S  We were advised to get our white goods from Corvera.

Unfortunatley 1234 it doesn´t  always go well and when people are happy they often do´t tell people but of course when things go wrong they go dramaticall y wrong so they may not be telling porkies as you put it

For balance I know that they also have hundreds of happy clients

Speaking in support of FCE, I would like to point out the following facts and offer some very good advice.

Just like any and many other furniture supply companies and in this case the affore mentioned DFS, Murcia Furniture and a few others, FCE do supply and sell ranges that are flat pack and ranges that are SOLID hand built furniture items.

In order to offer the best prices and when buying from several countries and continents from around the world, it is logistically imposible to purchase every item fully assemble from the manufacturer. If this was the case the price would be massively more expensive.

FCE try to offer good quality furniture for every budget, as i am aware after getting to know the company, they can supply a standard range of goods for an apartment for under 1000€ and equally supply to clients that are fair to pay in excess of 20,000€.

Many of the items that they display instore, online and from supplier catalogues, varies from composite board with veneer, to solid wood with or without veneer and on to open faced solid pieces. All come with a full refundable, exchangeable or repairable gaurantee!! with no quibbly.....

How can it be posible for any company in this line of work, be expected to receive shipment of fully built solid wood, metal or glass furniture, then deliver to properties that offer many obsticles and with very restricted access in a lot of cases, in prestine condition and without failure to install. There are many cases from the earlier affore mentioned companies, where goods have NOT been installed because of these reasons. FCE has no delivery failure to date.

FCE do offer a full pre order survey of properties and with their expertease (over 50 years in the furniture trade) offer the correct and best solutions and advice.

It is advisable for clients to go to their chosen supplier and ask fully the questions of furniture make up and manufacture, if concerned. Certainly at FCE where posible the correct information is relayed back to the client.

FCE offer a very full and extensive pre build for delivery and/or construction of goods on site where nescessary, by quality installers, usually including the owners being hands on or supervising.

I can not offer anything but praise and thanks for the goods, service and price that i paid and the personal friendly and honest service i recieved from their team.

These comments are for advice perpuoses and are based on fact.

Good luck and all the best....

Exactly, the point I was trying to make. Flat pack lamintes will be cheaper than solid wood dovetailed products but the latter will last much longer. It is hard to see the difference on a web picture so visit the store, whoever you choose.

I've just visited my apartment after it was furnished by DFS and its great. I found them from EOS after trawling the internet and papers for what seemed like months. Cora was my contact and she was really helpful. I used my voucher for the electrical items but DFS sorted the rest. I would recommend them to any of my new neighbours.

Hi all,

I have completed on Corvera, and my apartment is now ready for rental. I used FCE and found them very good to deal with. Co-operative and reasonable, with very good after sales service.

If I can be of any help to anyone completing please PM me.

Best of luck to all,

Ian
