i,m writing this to ask if anyone else thinks the same as i do..just before christmas my wife and i along with other members of our family, including two off our grandchildren, came over to spain really looking foreward to having our own apartment finaly handed over to us..anyway when we arrived we were told by our agents there'd been a problem that meant a delay in the handing over off the property to us by about two weeks.. something i wish they'd let us know before we spent a few hundred pounds on booking flights and hotel rooms??..but the builder had offered to let us stay FREE gratis!!! in the show house for those two weeks!! we said what with christmas fast approaching back home, we really coudn't afford to take his offer up, which was fortunate because weve now just been told the handover, won't be until the 18 off this month january 2007.. before we left though we'd been and bought most off the furniture, it won't be delivered until a day or so before we return, and had to arrange for our lawyers to have power off attorney as we couldn't be there to see to the handover.. which was a shame because its not every day you buy a property in spain!!. putting all of that aside, when we'd visited the site, about the third off december, we were surprised and pleased at just how much progress had been made since we were last there in about july 2005... then apart from a show house there'd been virtualy nothing else but the very basic building works..   a JCB digger parked were we were told our apartment was going to be and now stands.. so this is my question, because off unfinished groundworks ( ie renforcing left uncovered and sticking up, covers missing off manholes ect, along with general building debri around the apartment area, there was no way we as adults could have safely used it, let alone our grandchildren.. and seeing as our bank had told us has soon as our property was handed over, we'd have to start paying the morgage we'd taken out to buy the property, when is a building finished, when the last brick is laid or when the groundworks are all completed around it in such a way it can be safely accessed..????? PS.. i've posted a few photos off  the site in general and how the area around our apartment was then in the photo gallery...PPS despite everything we can't wait to get back...........

Thanks for the update and pics of the apartments, we were to complete 23rd Jan 2007, but have been given plenty of notice that it is now likely to be end Feb before completion. Looking at your pics and with my husband being in the construction industry we can share your concerns with the debris etc lying around the apartments and will be asking our lawyers to confirm that these areas will be cleared up before we complete.  Would be interested in your views regarding quality of the work in your apartment and whether you had many snagging issues?  We had already booked flights to come out early March to furnish the apartment, so was wondering where you got your furniture/white goods from.

Regards

M Briggs

Hello,

I would also be interested in where the best places are to buy furniture.  Although we completed in Oct. have yet to furnish.

I want to go to Yecla where there are furniture factory shops but not sure how far away from Tierra Del Sol it is.  Was told you can haggle the prices. Has anyone been there yet?

Thought I would use the Carreforre in Torrevieja  for small goods as we have to go there anyway on the next visit.  Was not interested in furniture packages as if we were to come over permanently we would have all our own things anyway.  Mainly after a storage bed and two sofas, outside tables and chairs.  White goods are ordered.

Furniture

We completed in an apartment in block 4 in November 06.  We ordered our furniture from TorreHogar (Linear Mobiliario) in Torrevieja.  They delivered and fitted the furniture.  Plumbed in the washing machine, wired the cooker, fitted all the lights, fittings and bathroom fittings and also fitted the curtain poles and curtains.  They also took away all the rubbish.  We would recommend them.  The manager is a really helpful guy called Jose Ramon.  Hope others find them useful.
