Completion La Isla!

Just has a phone call from PW we are to complete on La Isla early June! no letters nothing letting us know how everything is going but who cares now the end is in sight.  Anyone else out there who is also completing on the Island?

What is the next move? We have the money in place - what is next? Solicitor? Bank account? what is this snagging thing do we have to be CA or can someone else do this on our behalf?

We are going to get the furniture from IKEA in Murcia - earlier on EOS it was mentioned that a man with a van is available for collection from IKEA can anyone give me his email. 

Help its scarey!  Any advice is most welcome.

yes you can give your spanish solicitor Power of Attouney They will sort out all the legal things for you however I would advise you to seek a company who will  do your snagging

Snagging is all the things that need re doing Ie Sink in bath room not alighned correctly

Paintwork patchy Sealant around bathroom not in place  the list may be short or it could be endless we used sbaggit murcia.

They view your property & photo & make a list of everything that needs to be done. We had 21 items on our list

they then pass the list on to Polaris who then have 30 working days to rectify the problems

Gary or one of the team then go back & re make the list if they feel that things still need doing

Polaris then has a bout a week to get every thing done.

you then get a report back confirmimg the results

For Air con We would recomend Polar air again I will email you with details & lastly you may need a key holder. We can recomend Carol Millar. Again details to follow

But first you will need a solicitor. preferably a spanish one who speaks excelent english or the orher way around.

Idealy you should not use either the bank or the solicitor advised by your builder unless the rates are better than any where else

They are usually in the builders pocket so to speak. Same in the Uk

Your solicitor can then act as your behalf as power of attourney & deal with all of the legal issues that take forever to deal whith.

When you recieve your keys from PW., ours came in the post. 4 of them, you can then get some one in to do the snaging.

You will be looking for air con. cool & warm air. Again lots of people have used & been more than happy with polarair.

Polaris usually hold a key on your behalf so that trades people can gain access to your apartment .

You do need to contact the office on Condado to give your permission. Alternitivly wait & grab a few days holiday then. you can always rent an apartment on Condafo. let key holders you will be over & ask for details.

start a thread ie Key holder wanted. before you go out 

Once you have discided who you will use, give them a key or get PW to hand over the one they hold, if your keyholder is happy with that arangement

As I have already indicated we use Carol Millar , She knows all there is to know. Very competent . has a good team around her . 

We asked the office ( Olga ) to give the spare key to Carol. Now if anyone needs to get into our apartment they have to contact her. This way the place is monitored whilst the people are in the apartment  & she ensures all electrics etc are off & every thing is secure.. Carol now holds 2 sets of keys for us & we still have 3.

I do not know what your plans are re furnishing your apartment but please PM me & I will happily pass on any info , though I am sure you will get some great ideas  from others on this site.

Oh while I think of it you will also ned a Spanish will. Very important. I will email you David Ringmans email afterwards .

Hi Hamibabe

We completed last Feb and our Solicitors had Power of Attorney.  We have not received the keys to our property and were wondering how long you waited before Polaris World sent them to you.  Do we have to make an appointment with PW Customer Services Dept or can we ring them and ask them to post them to us as our Solicitors have informed us the keys are with them.

Your advice would be greatly appreciated.

I have just had a 'chat' with my husbnd and we gave Polariw World permission to keep them free of charge for 6 months which I had completely forgotten about!!  So no need to reply to this request.

I think Jan has covered it very well.  If you didn't want POA you arrange with PW a completion date and go out yourselves, staying on the Condado in an apartment then you will have a great feel of the place!

Jane   -  if you completed by POA your solicitor should have 4 keys and PW will hold 1 key.  So maybe contact with your solicitor and arrange delivery/collection of your keys.

Been there and done it twice.

POA great, but I would prefer to be there on the day and get it all sorted. We have a great solicitor for years now, so no problems. You get the keys there and then and you can start the shopping straight away.

That is off course if you have the time to go over for at least a week.

Ikea also delivers, when you got a big shop it works out pretty cheap, they also have an assembly service if you don't fancy the painfull instructions routine. Delivery was pretty good when we used it, you just book it when you buy. They only deliver on certain days in our area, so worth checking it out.
