Following the recent success of our 'bleat' to the General thingummyjig person about dogs swimming and poo-ing I thought we could, perhaps, join ranks again to request that, for example, the pool on Jardine 5 and Jardine 9 or 10 be heated over the winter months (am sure the Naranjos people will feel the same about their pools too).  If there are, say, 1500 apartments on the Jardines resort then I am sure if we offered to pay an extra ONE  OR TWO euros per month in community fees then this would adequately cover any winter heating costs which may result from the pools being warm for us to use over the winter months and, indeed, help us with rental prospects.  What does everyone else think?  We touched on this subject briefly on another thread months ago but now that we have an actual contact name/email address then petitioning for it would be easier now. Is a petition to the General an option?  Arlene

I think a better idea would be to convert 1 of the new football pitches near Foro in to an INDOOR Heated Pool, this would not lose as much heat and with a changing facility people would not freeze going back to their apartments? and if a small charge for use was made then the ones using it would contribute towards the cost.

I am sure it would get a lot more use than the football pitches

A heated Swimming pool.

Great.

Both idea`s sound good to me, though one that is indoors does seem to  be the better option in the long term.

I dont swim. No, thats a lie.

(I cant swim, well not very well. I tend to sink after a bout 10 strokes. NO I`m not fat. Cheeky.)

But My husband , family etc can. My youngest son LOVEs a good game of footie though.

How many piches are there.

For the football adicts out there I would hate them to miss out.

A nicely worded letter to PW, though sounds good to me.

I think we would have to se the costing of it first & look at the posibility of ever rising cost in the future re Heating & maintainance.

Of course there is always going to be some who are not willing to pay out anymore. but still expect  clients etc to take advantage of such a facility.

So again an entrance fee sounds the better option

Jan

The idea of changing the footie pitches to an indoor pool is a major project compared to simply installing heating in the existing pools and would require to go through planning etc I expect.  Also a lot further to walk to from the Jardines.  I was hoping to convince them as soon as possible and perhaps get the heating installed within the next couple of months????

The Idea is a good one Arlene

However I am sure , At least I hope that there are going to be people of other nationalities with apartments around us and it would be wrong for "Just the Brits"  to come up with such ideas & hope everyone agree`s.

As someone who, through her years has done a lot of voluntary work I know that many will agree on such a venture but when it comes to handing over the money  will disapear into the mist, though they will still expect to be able to use such a facility.

How would you police it? particulaly if there is a language barrier.

As with the previous thread. I agree It would still need for PW to put in planning as" pool houses " would  need to be built to house the relevant electricity thinymagigs. From my knowledge  these can sometimes be quite noisy when running & sorry but we would not like such a building outside our apartment

Has this been done on any other PW resort and if so it might be worth making contact to find out? If not there might be reasons for that which would be useful to know. I think with an outside heated pool there have to be covers- to retain the heat when its not in use and that means someone has to monitor the cover going on and off. We stayed in a small hotel near Jerez that had a heated pool on the roof terrace and you had to go get the 'pool man' to open it up. They used solar panels to power the heat.

We found it was going to take over 6 hours to heat a soft tub- so a substantial amount of time/expense would be needed for the Condado pools.

the main months to heat 1 or 2 pools would be sep, oct ,mar, april and may.no point  in the colder months as 1) it would be too expensive and 2) lack of use  (youd have to be very brave to wander across to the pools in a freezing gale which is what we had most of december)

We think it would be a good idea but practically it may be impossible due to expense and maintenance. Possibly one pool could be suggested but then you have the problem of which pool and whether residents in that Jardine would be happy with that. Plus tripping back to your own Jardine in the chill wrapped in a towel isnt ideal! Need an expert to give some info here as I think you cant turn the heat off so it remains on 24x7=expensive, and hence the need for the cover. However only have experience of hotels who'd be watching the penny's so proper info is needed for this to be a proposition.

Someone mentioned an indoor pool earlier on this thread - on the original plan there was a sports zone mentioned that included a pool, spa and gym.  It was part of the original Foro though so you never know what is actually happening with it.

I've emailed Polaris a few questions on other things as I think there communications with owners could be better!  If I get an answer on the other points I'll ask about this too.

Cheers Pamela

I would love a heated pool, indoor or out - so I will support any idea that will provide an extended use of the current pools or a new indoor facility and would be happy to pay towards it.
