Ikea - delivery time for sofa

Hi all,

For all those who have bought a sofa from Ikea - can you help?

We've just been to our local Ikea today looking for ideas for a sofa for our apartment in Jardin 5.  

We were told that it would take about 6 weeks to get the sofa delivered if they were delivering to an address in England.  Is it the same in Spain? 

We got our Sofa from Ikea in Murcia, ordered August bank holiday weekend and delivered 2 October, so yes about 6 weeks.  Good service and didn't get charged for delivery either.

They give you an approximate date when the sofa arrives at their distribution centre, you then need to ring to organise delivery.  Not easy, you need someone Spanish to help with the phone call!

Hi Lyndsey - Is it 6 weeks just for delivery? If you have your own transport, can you get a sofa from stock on the day? - I have read about "Steve the Ikea man" somewhere but can't remember where - Is he the man that you give a list to, and he'll go and do the shopping and then deliver it for you?

                      We got our Sofas delivered the following day from Ikea Murcia

We ordered a leather sofa,  Ikea didn't hold it in stock so had to order.  I am sure anything they hold in stock could be delivered withing a fairly short space of time.

Steve the Ikea man is a good man to know, good DIY chap too!

I am sure he would offer a service to collect/organise delivery of whatever anyone needs.  He lives nearby and has been in Spain for 5 years so knows his way around.
