Hi,
Carrefour customer service not very good if electrical items have faults. Media markt at Cartagena and Murcia better choice, good prices and customer service good.

Hi Jean - Like everyone else, we will soon be looking for all our white goods, and, like everyone else had intended going to carrefour - Can you give us any examples of prices at Media Market and where are they situated? Many Thanks

Hi Jean

Thanks for the info on customer care it's always the cheapest that's the bestest.  Do Media Market have a website?

Think the comment about customer service is very good, something worth considering.  I got my tv and dvd from Alcampo at the Thader centre.  The tv was a techwood, which I have at home and very good value, and I got a fairly cheap dvd.  Had to take the dvd back this week (have had it 3 months, but used it only about 5 times!).  I got nowhere!! OK doesn't help that my Spanish isn't good, so can't argue, but basically got the number for the manufacturers and told to call them.  Will probably have to get another dvd - just hope the tv doesn't go wrong!!

Unless you have good Spanish suggest you stick with the specialists and check their returns policy.

Ted

Hi all, am out next week for the 1st time to furnish our pad (jardin 11) and looking to buy a TV so good to see the advice posted to date.  If I do buy one, does anyone know if we can get a signal in Condado?? Do we need to get someone in to install an aerial?? is it worth getting one with freeview??  can we get sky tv??!!

lots of questions I know, but no point buying a TV if I can't watch it - any advice appreciated!!!

Ant

good luck for moving in!!!!

Yes, there is an ariel already in the resort. So, you just need to plug in the ariel cable and the TV will pick up the signal. Just local tv channels at the moment. If your tv has a digital tuner, then you'll pick up around 30 channels. Disney channel (in English) is one - so good for the kids. If you buy a tv which has language choices, then you'll be able to switch a few of the channels from spanish to English (assuming its an english/american dubbed program that your watching).

As for proper English channels. Theres another thread running on that. Someone mention about 400Euro payment to subscribe, but its not available just yet.

Hope this helps.

Brian/Michelle,

many thanks.  I don't profess to be technical at all, would a standard 32 nch LCD tv do the trick for picking up the channels you mentioned??  I see carrefour are soing them for 400 euro at the moment  - thats about my limit for a TV as i hope we will be too busy out in the sun to watch it!!!!

Anthony

Hi Ant. When you're buying it, just make sure it has a digital tuner. I think most do nowadays, but if its an older model then it might not. Ask them also if it has the option to change the language. We got this purely by chance... But, you'd be suprised how often it can work. Quite a few channels show dubbed american and english programs - so you can switch the dubbing off and take the english language. We bought ours in Media markt in Murcia. Sharp 32" LCD for 550 Euros. Lovely telly. Really happy with it. Really easy to setup and operate. All the best...
