Were you allowed to complete without insurance? I thought it had to be in place at completion?

We completed around three weeks ago (Jardines 9) , and without insurance.

I also would be keen to know if anyone has any ideas on  insurance.

We completed in Aug and were told by our Bank (Halifax Espana, Mazarron) that insurance was needed before completion date IF you are using a MORTGAGE to fund final payment. If not then you can organise insurance at a later date as there is no third party involved in your apartment.
We insured through our Bank using Zurich as our insurer, before completion, and because we are not using a mortgage, were advised that we did not require cover of 125000 Euros (PW quoted level of cover) as we are the only party interested in our apartment. We insured for a lower figure as recommended by Halifax to cover rebuilding costs as well as other risks. Our premium was 147 Euros for Building Insurance with a separate policy for contents depending on value of said contents.
Hope this makes sense and helps you.
Davell

We used a company called Intasure that we found on the net,.You can set the level of insurance you require and we found that they were the cheapest we could find costing £123 for the year.

www.intasure.com

Hope this helps, Harvey

Thanks for your replies,  we also did not take out a mortgage thanks to the mother-inlaw,  so we did not have to insure it straight away.

Hi, we took out the Polaris/Zurich insurance, they sent us details with the completions pack. we paid 224 euro's for 125k buildings cover and 12k contents cover. It was easy to set up.
Stephen, welcome to the forum, we're also garden 9 as is Ruthless, stonephil,1098 and tyneside.

Hi Guys

We also took out the polaris/Zurich insurance as it had no excess which is great if you are renting out.  They even insured it the same day. We also completed without insurance but did take it out soon after - just in case something were to happen to the actual building (fire!) seems silly to gamble that much money for the cost of the insurance premium!!

We are also in block 9 - looking forward to meeting some of you
