Hi,
I've been looking through the site and it seems a great way to talk and get advice from people who live in spain!
We're in the process of buying a property in the area near to la zenia, and I've been googling the Internet til my eyes have almost popped out! and I still can't seem to find any plumbers merchants that sell boilers radiators etc anywhere!
Can anyone point me in the right direction at all?
Thanks

As you are in La Zenia, go to Zenia Boulevard and pop into Leroy Merlin. A whole section there with boilers, pipes, radiators and so on. There is also a large plumbing section in the Brico at Los Montesinos. Leroy Merlin also has a large catalogue you can order from and many of the staff speak English.
Fancy a liitle ride out? Brico Depot ar Crevillente (on the N340 to Elche road) is part of the Kingfisher group which owns B&Q has several aisles of the stuff.

If you want a really good trade place then have a look at these people. I use them for boilers, flues rads etc. They are a trade supplier and their prices are really hard to beat. They carry combi boilers and rads in stock, plus everything else you will need.

That's great thanks for that!
In your opinion, which is the best cost effective way to heat a house over in Spain?
My partner is a central heating engineer in the uk and we're looking at all possibilities, what are your thoughts on this subject?
I've started another thread earlier about whether there is any mains gas in the villamartin/ Los dolses area as that would make things a bit easier!
Thanks

It really depends on what you are trying to get out of it. I have fitted central heating systems for people here in Spain, some run on LPG some on oil and on rare ocassions natural gas. Each is good in its own way. In out house we have a wood burner for heating, with A/C and thermostaically controlled electric heaters as back up if we need it. We also have a very good stand alone instant gas water heater for domestic hot water. It suits us, but it would not suit everybody. You need to think about what you want. If you want a programmable central heating system, then the cheapest option oin the long term is an oil fired condensing boiler, if you want something that costs less to instal and you are not too concerned about running costs, then it.s a combi boiler using whatever fuel you have available,.

We like the heat from a wood burner, plus we like instant hot water from the LPG water heater. Decide what you want first, what you want it to do, and then think about how to do it.  If you need any help with where to get what you want just ask

Thanks for the advice, it's been very helpful to us.
Have you ever come across air source pumps ?
If you have, is there an outlet in this area that sell them?
They are around £5000 in the uk, so we aware that they are quite expensive to purchase initially but provide an efficient way of heating a home.
Thanks

Thanks chris for your advice, after looking at all options for economical heating in Spain, we think the best is a woodburning boiler with either a solar water heater/ or an electric immersion heater
