Hi everyone! I am new to this forumsite.

My daughter and I are moving to costa del sol (La Duquesa, I think) , in late august or early semptember for 1 year , or longer, if we like it?!

I would like some advice on what's the best , and cheapest way to transfer our savings to spain.

If anybody is interested, I have got " a man with a van" who is taking a few of my belongings to spain. That means he will go 'emptyhanded' back to the UK around 28th aug. 2011.

Many thanks and I hope for many replies.    Margie X

I would recommend using CURRENCIES DIRECT as they don´t charge any international fees which saves a huge amount.

The agent I  personally use is Keith Spitalnick and the office number is +34 902 310 444.

I can´t recommend This company enough as they saved me loads and made it really easy (unlike my bank!)

hope this helps,

Ryan

We used TorFX and saved about 2000 for moving 30.000 pounds compared to doing it through the bank.

 Hi MargieH,

I used HIFX, and they were superb, And saved about the equivalent as Lavge, Off on a tangent if you have SKY Tv in the UK bring the box and card with you, you will save a fortune.

Regards,

Carl.

I always use HIFX, and have been very happy with the service - very reliable, quick and no charges, and the rates are competitive

We personally use and recommend Moneycorp.

Best to contact a few and check the different rates on offer but it's normally better to use a specialist currency broker instead of your bank as you generally get a better rate that way.

Best of luck with your move.

Justin

Hi Margie, Hi everyone else..!!!

I am also new to this site and will be moving to El Soto de Marbella, Elviria with my wife in September. We used TTT Moneycorp who have been extremely helpful. They came highly recommended to us by our agent, Property Point Marbella. The fund transfers for the property from our UK bank account took less than 24 hours. Their rates are also very competitive.

As justin pointed out, we avoided a lot of pricey transfer fees by using a licenced broker. Their beneficiary bank is the HSBC Bond Street so they are very trustworthy.

The very best of luck with your move.

Phil.
