HD in Spain

 I have a 1.9mtr dish & recieve free to air transmissions.  If I want to receive HD transmissions do I just need to change the digibox to an HD one? I have HD tvs.  Any information would be useful.

Yes.

To receive HD TV via satellite, you require a HD satellite receiver.

BBC1HD, BBCHD, ITV1HD and (soon) C4HD are all FTA HD channels.

 You also need an HD ready or a full HD TV screen that has at least one HDMI port to plug the satellite receiver in.  The best resolution is 1080p, although 1080i is not bad.  Most flat screen TV's from 2002 onwards have at least one HDMI and the newer ones have two or more so that you can hook up your satellite receiver plus your Sky or other digital satellite program plus perhaps a media reproduction drive all at the same time.

Of course, now with the coming of 3D HD, things are starting to change yet again! and all the equipment we now have will have to be replaced if you want that too.

Of course you dont NEED a HDTV to use the HD receiver....you can still watch the HD channels via SCART on a normal TV...obviously it will not be in HD, but sometimes some of the HD channels are on "nicer" frequencies.
