Can anyone recommend someone to fit satellite tv - we understand from taray that the dishes are up & the wiring is done, but we need to get a receiver.

We have also been on the Torre alcanta site which is also taray & they are saying Sky tv has been cut off by the Spanish governement so can anyone on site tell us what channels are now available as we persume it is a different type of satellite tv to what we are used to over here. We have looked at previous threads on this site, but wonder if these are still valid fitters as it is listed under Sky tv

Thanks Mo

Hi

We went with the guy that Taray recommended. Have you asked Helder for a contact?

Thanks Debbie

We were given a telephone number for someone called Scott by Taray, but the number is unobtainable. We are still confused as to what you get now & how much it costs. Would be grateful for some guidance.

Thanks Mo

Hi

Please can anyone give us any help or guidance on costs & who to contact & what tv channels we might expect to get.
We met a couple when on site a few weeks ago who were very helpful & told us if we had any further questions this would be the best place to ask so  we are disappointed that only Debbie has come back to us, but it sounds like Scott is the Taray man - perhaps I have been given the wrong number for him. Perhaps the lady we spoke to who lived opposite the showhouse who was so helpful may read this & be able to help us.

I would be grateful for any help.

On a very old posting from Alex875  there is a long list of numbers, but are we wasting money going down this route if Sky doesn't exist in Spain. We have looked on the general forums on this subject which is even more confusing.

Thanks

Mo

Your best bet is to speak to Helder, he will arange everything for you. I was out a couple of weeks ago, and he said he was close to offering a deal on TV, Phone and Broadband for about 50 Euro a month.
Go in and have a chat with him

Hi Mo

We have just been over to Spain & our satellite TV was working - some of the channels have disappeared (mainly the Sky channels - movies etc) & some channels that were English are now Spanish, but there was an announcement on one of the channels from the service provider who  states that they are working on adding new legitimate channels all the time. For part timers like ourselves there is enough choice - all the BBC, ITV channels, Eurosport etc.

Whether you could pick all these up on a Freeview receiver (these are being advertised in all the local free papers) I don't know, but could be worth looking into as a cheaper option. We would be interested to hear how you get on, for future reference.

Good Luck

Sue

P.S. Scott fitted a new system for our neighbours at the end of April so I think he still the guy to get in contact with

Hi Tina

I have read a posting on another site which states that Teleast have broken away from Telemicro & are now able to offer the Sky channels again at an additional cost of 30 euros to come around & set them up as you have been told as well.

I think the 30 euros additional charge is a bit of a cheek really as we have already paid to have all these channels in the first place, but heyho if we have to pay, we have to pay. (As long as when we pay they don't get taken off again, because Sky is still supposed to be illegal in Spain ! )

Good Luck

Sue

Without going down the satellite route do TV's pick up anything plugged into the arial sockets that are provided or do we need something else?

Yes, the TV will pick up half a dozen or so Spanish channels.
