I was considering long term rental in Casares but must say I am dismayed to hear all the doom surrounding the complex. I certainly do not want to live in a ghost town with security issues let alone all the other squabbling. It's a pity as it seems a lovely complex but living on my own, I can't afford to put my security at risk. If anyone has different views please let me know or other long term rentals in more cheerful areas! Thanks

Hello  Pami

Yes I suppose when you get on to this site it must sound all gloom and doom but really I do love my little place on  CDS.  I love the area, the surroundings (it's very much like North Wales looking up to the mountains as we do at home).  I can't wait to get back there again which will be in just under a weeks time.  We make many visits for long weekends. The place is certainly not like a ghost town. At times it is quiet but that goes for most places at certain times of the year.  People living on the site are very nice, some owners and some who have taken on long term letting.  We have met many of the owners now and I can't say there is anyone that I dislike.  Yes we do have some problems that hopefully will be resolved in time. Meanwhile I'm not gonna let it stop me enjoying my breaks because as soon as I arrive I feel glad that I have bought in that area and not in the likes of Puerto Banus where our friends are. OK it's lovely there but not like our place.  So do re consider your long term let. I don't think that you'll be dissappointed.

Regards

'H'

Just came back from a very pleasant stay at CDL. Reasonable numbers of people staying and nothing untoward. The lower end is now much better lit at night and the fact that through traffic has been stopped seems  to be helping. Individual apartments need to be well secured and that is no different from anywhere else. Gardens are also showing slow but steady improvement. All in all it was a very positive visit. Both Casares Golf and Finca Cortesin clubhouses were open for business and the Le Menorah restaurant at Cortesin was excellent for dinner. All building seems to have stopped at Casares Suites and it was very pleasant not to have the dust and traffic.

We're also just back from CDS. It is steadily improving, nothing to complain about, more people on the site, plenty of evidence of security both private and Policia local and Guardia civil. Nothing overt just showing a presence which is a comfort that action is being taken by the authorities.

The golf is fantastic at the moment, some of the best bargains I can ever remember on the Casares Costa Golf course which is just across from the site (30 seconds away) must be the best deal on the whole coast. 20 Euros for 9 holes if you are an owner or resident of CDS. The course is certainly a reasonable quality and well worth a game or two. Being only 9 holes it is a relatilvely comfortable walk, only 1 hill on the whole course. Also played El Cortesin. Expensive but quite an experience, however having done it now I think I would feel better value for having 5 rounds on Casares Costa Golf for the same money. But there are a number of very good deals at the moment, get a 'Costa del Sol golf news' magazine when you go or go to a local agency in Duquesa and they will arrange things. Dona Julia and San Roque new course and Estepona also great bargains.

Things are getting better, we still have the most spacious site for miles around and in time this will be one of the best developments, no matter what other sites do they cannot create the feeling of spaciousness that we have and the properties will steadily increase in attractiveness when compared to others in the area.
