Villa in Benalmadena/La Carihuela

Hi everyone

How is everyone finding their electricity charges. We have just been charged 67 euros for 2 months (last bill 29.01.08)

I know it depends on how many times you are out but this is higher than we expected. We have used the apartment for around 4 weeks over the period.

Must admit we found them higher than expected but put that down to using aircon, heating water, as you know we haven't been out since November we will be using it more over the next few months and will keep a closer eye on it. Mind you I haven't seen an electricity bill yet, translating it should be fun.

I agree with you about the electricity charges.  Carmel and I have discussed this.  We have had 3 bills so far totalling 106 euros (£84 approx) for a total of 3 weeks stay.  We have not yet got round to installing air con/heating.  We just assumed that the fan heaters we had ran away with the electricity.  Not much cooking either, just showers and lighting, so a bit concerning.

Will certainly have to keep an eye on this.  More than we budgeted for.

Water bils to date (another is due) are 64 euros (£50).

Certainly concerning folks.  We don't have air conditioning just use the oil heaters which should be economical

We switched our electricity off at the main switch when we left after the last trip (freezer empty) so seemed pointless leaving it on. We also unplug the hot water heater every time we leave, as well as every other appliance, apart from fridge freezer if there is food in it..

Are there standing charges for electricity, what are they, and are they charged on every bill?

We also seem to be getting billed every 2 months, is this others experience?

My husband (is it OH?) says that electricity bills are every 2 months and water every 3 months.

Standing charges are 17 euros on each utility - do you agree?

Hello again!

Asked my husband about standing charges (what makes you think he manages the budget then?!!!) and his answer was "Who knows?!"

We have yet to get to grips with the nitty gritty of this! There seem to be several smallish amounts that get taken at different times. Need to get a move on with the Spanish lessons!!
