Hello Just wondering has anyone experienced problems fitting a dishwasher? Our villa is in phase 2 and the sink overflow pipe encroaches into the dishwasher space and prevents the fitting of the dishwasher. We have explained this to Esther in customer services but she has not been able to help us as the problem is very serious and therefore expensive. The last meeting we had she brought a director out to site and he told us that all the other villas were exactly the same. We have had to deliver a dishwasher to site to prove the point. Hopefully he will now just get on and replace it. We completed in Nov and we still aren't able to furnish it due to the incredible mess they cause each time they work on the villa and owing to the prospect of further mess when they finally replace all the worktops in the kitchen probably wont be able to furnish for a further couple of months. Generally speaking I am truly disappointed and wish I had chosen to buy something else.

What size dishwasher have you tried to fit. ?

We sucessfully installed a 45cm slimline with no problems.

This was however in a ground floor apartment in block 50.

This is a recognised snagging defect in the Birdie villa and should be changed by RODA

If you pM me your e-mail details I will send you a document on how to deal with the problem with RODA

Under Spanish Law all snagging defects found in the first 12 months have to be rectified

Generally the dishwasher spaces are around 61cm wide, but the plumbing for the sink and the isolation valves are in the way, certainly on ours and others we know of. The valves should be accessible (away from the back of the D/W - ideally in the sink unit) to turn the water off in case of emergency (ie water leaks). However, be careful, as this will be a very difficult error to correct. It would probably mean changing the sink position, which affects the worktop and so on. Also to alter the valves may mean tiles / walls being chopped out, so a very messy job.

The compromise, as sugarmummy points out, is to install a 45cm D/W and maybe have a pull out towel rail alongside it, or get Roda to build a tray space unit to fill the gap (bearing in mind it is their mistake), which can be removed for access to the valves.

Be aware that Roda are trying to make out you are the only ones with these problems, but, as we are finding out, many of us have the same errors in our properties. We all make mistakes, but Roda are refusing to correct some of theirs, usually the ones that cost them a lot of money to put right.
