Hi

Does anyone have any swimming pool and garden maintenance people they could recommend to us please. Roda prices seem extortionate. We have a villa on phase 2, with a small pool and garden to be kept nice.

Many Thanks

Les

Hi Les

Cannot help you with garden maintenance but would also be interested to hear if anyone does have any suggestions.  We have a villa coming up for completion in phase 3 this summer.  Did you have any problems with Roda landscaping your garden?  When we purchased we were told this was included in our price.  However, I understand it actually just includes grass seed and some basic hedging between plots.  Is this what you got?

I was also thinking about some sort of irregation system.  Grass seed would need regular watering!  Presumably this is a key part of the maintenance but with a summer completion I am sure this would need doing nearly every other day.  We do not want to lower the tone with a brown singed plot!

Hi Mrs H

We had some plants put in the front / side gardens (including a large cactus tree), with mature hedge plants along the side boundaries and grass seed in the rear garden (despite being told we would have turf), with irrigation around all the gardens. They have also recently put some hedge plants along the rear boundary, but right ontop of our pool, so I am currently asking them to move these, to allow the space we once had around the pool.

Just a word of warning (as I was warned by a fellow purchaser), they are very poor on getting the snagging items done and you need to keep onto them, we went over recently, after being told (in writing) it was all finished, only to discover hardly anything had been completed (they had not even installed the aircon either). Apart from this we are relatively pleased.

Hi Les

Yes, thanks for the warning.  I read an earlier message about your air con and ceilings.  Also, reference your earlier posts, we were told same as you - that we would have use of communal pools and we are now having a pool installed.

Sounds like you have done well with your garden.  Did you pay extra for the mature cactus tree etc?  Also did you have to pay for the irrigation system?  I am very ignorant on these matters, and do not really know how they work, but does the irrigation system provide automatic watering?  I do remember talking to Roda about this when we purchased and I am sure they said the irrigation system would be an optional extra.  How does it work?

I am not sure how the irrigation system works, thats something we need to find out (perhaps a fellow purchaser could help us with this?), but we did not pay extra for it or for any of the planting. All the villas in phase three appear to have similar plants put in and a cactus tree (or maybe it's a palm - I'm not really a gardener !), so I would imagine you will get the same.

The irrigation system will be on a timer typicallyl located in a man hole cover and should be maintained and setup by RODA as it will be independant of the property and normally time cycles around all of the properties

I will have a quick look when I am onsite on Thursdy and ask in the office for you

Many thanks for that Roy, presumably the costs for Roda to maintain the irrigation system will be charged to everyone via the communal fees

Yes this is normally part of the comunity fees plus it may be supplied from the recycled water source

Thanks for all the info.  Great news that the irrigation system is not another 'extra' then that we need to budget for!  Roy, if you are going to the site I wonder if you could see how the villas in phase 3 are coming on?  We are plot 38 (opposite the 17th green, or it was on the masterplan anyway!).  Roda are still being very vague about completion dates.  We are visiting late March and I will pm you to discuss our snagging requirements. I am very excited about getting a cactus tree/palm!

Roy is right. The sprinklers adjacent to the terrace of our apartment come on a 8 am and I think in early evening in the Summer.  If we leave our sunbeds on the edge of the terrace they are cleaned for us!   The sprinklers (3 of them) are just on the edge of the terrace and water the garden - and our terrace!

As I understand it, they use recycled water and the costs are all contained in the communidad fees.

Thanks for that UK I will give him a try.

Any alternatives would be handy, just in case, if anyone know of some - ie gardeners and / or pool maintenance
