hi all,

We've purchased a quad hopefully ready next feb. We have often thought since about the lack of any real storage areas in the house, eg; for putting away suitcases, barbeque's and other such bulky items. Has anyone else had similar thoughts on this and any ideas ? we had  thought about the possibility of opening the attic area but were told this would not be possible.

Regards,

Elaine & Ken

Hi Elain & Ken

Possibly the reason we can't have access to the loft area in the quad's, is that they have not built fully dividing walls between each house in the roof space!

It is a problem you have posed and we can't think of a direct answer at the moment. Some outside storage possibly for the barbie? but obviously would need to be secure and tidy of course.

Regards to all

Dave & Janet

Hi All

We have also purchased a quad, in the main for a holiday home for ourselves. With this in mind we would like to leave clothes, personal possessions etc out there, but now people have started asking if they can rent from us so the lack of storage cupboard does cause a bit of a problem. We nearly bought a penthouse & this had an understairs storage cupboard.

We hadn't realised that we would not be able to use the loft area - there are so many things to think about.

The only thing we can think of is putting a lock on the main bedroom upstairs & when we rent letting it as a 2 bed instead of 3.

We hadn't thought about the suitcases !! Will be okay when it is just the 2 of us out there as we can put in a spare bedroom, but if we are out with all the family could be a problem.

Look forward to meeting you all soon

Sue & Dave

Hi

Friends of ours  rent their holiday house out. They have had locks fitted to the wardrobes in the 3rd bedroom, and they keep all their personal stuff there. It seems to work well, as there is usually plenty of wardrobe space in other rooms, and teenagers always seem to live out of cases anyway ( or is that just mine?) That is what I plan to do, as I hope to rent for some of the time.

Karen

hi,

We also have a quad. We intend to solve the storage problem by having the roof on the outside storage area where the boiler is extended to the gate. The gate is going to be repaced with a solid gate. This will be secure due to the lock only being accesssible from the interior. We have sourced spare roof tiles from the builders so the changes fit in with the rest of the building.

Hi Martin

That sounds like a really good idea - we still can't get around having our washing machine outside - quite alien to us Brits!!!

Did you have to apply for permission from anywhere to do this as when we have looked through our contracts it looks like changes have to be agreed by the community but obviously this is not set up yet ? Have you got a builder who is going to do it for you?

Have you bought a quad on manzana 3?

Sue & David

Hi Sue,David

Yes we are in No3. We have spoken to the agents on sight and planning permission is not required, as for community permission at this early stage its not an isue. If and when a residents association sets up we will deal with the issues then if they arise.

We have not contracted a builder, we intend to do all work ourself.
