Electricity meters

seemas a bit steep, I just had mine and it was €59 and I was only across for the AGM weekend (water & heating), rest of the time everything is turned off at the isolation board inside the apartment.

No idea if you can access the meter cupboard

Security will open up the meter cupboard for you when you are out or you could ask your key holder to ask security.  We did it for someone and took a photo then made sure everything was un plugged in the apartment as well as the circuit turned off.  Then a week later took another photo of the meter.  Result was Iberdrola have inspected the meter as it was still going round but could not find a fault.  Owners then got an electrician to test elecrics in the apartment and no fault found.  Awaiting to hear what action the owners will take next. is it easy to do online banking with a spanish bank account?

Most banks offer this service.  We are with Cajamar and the online banking is in english.

You need to remember unlike the UK in Spain you have service charges and taxes to pay for utilities so even if you do not use any electric you will still receive a bill of approx 45e every 63-65 days (not quaterly).  Some properties have different KW contracts but from what I can gather Terrazas Urbanisation contract capacity is 5.75kw and that dictates how much you pay a day,  So on a bill with no electricity used because you have evrything turned off and not been out you will see:

ENERGY - capacity invoiced (dates)       5.75KW x number of days (63) x cost (at the moment 0.101154 e/kw = 36.64e

SERVICES & OTHER ITEMS

Renting of meter equipment      63 days x 0.027616 e/day = 1.74e

Then IVA at 21% so a bill when no electric used will be 46.43e

If during that 63 day period you have used some electric you will have energy invoiced plus electricity tax and 21% IVA is then added on to that total.

The most costly items are AC (although new units are more efficient) oil filled radiators or something similar and fridge/freezers.  We do advice our owners when possible to turn off the later when not here as the costs for having a fridge/freezer turned on for just a bottle of wine, tub of butter and a few frozen chips does not warrent the electric used especially during the warmer months when the fridges are working over time.  Also dont forget to turn off the water heaters, this is something we check within 24 hours of someone leaving as it can be forgotton especially in apartments with outside cupboards!!!  Hope this helps.  Carol & Roy

Just had a bill for €100 euros of Ibedrola,  not been out since November everything is switched off at the main board and it's say I used a high KW in January, my address on my bill is wrong too it looks like I'm paying for another apartments electric, great, 

After being on the phone for an hour to Ibedrola they don't seem bothered I'm know asking my key holder to  check the serial number on my meter to see if it matches the one Ibedrola have got . 

This is something I don't need right now.
