TV & Internet on site

Hi All,

Just completed our purchase on Jardin 5 and we are wondering about the best way to go about internet (broadband) and TV packages. Any suggestions and ideally prices would be appreciated.

 The TV is already cabled into your apartment, you just need to get a TV or receiver box with a DVB-C tuner.

The internet facility is currently under review, the existing contract with the provider ( A2Z ) expired at the end of last year but they have kindly given the community an extension until the end of Feb for the presidents to decide on extending it or not.  I understand that this will be discussed at a presidents meeting next week so hopefully they will let the owners know then what decisions they have made.

many thanks for the info. are we tied to A2Z if they extend the contract? Also I assume as I cannot remember seeing any that dishes are a no-no?

A2Z will continue to provide the TV, it's only the reduced rate community deal for internet that is up for renewal.   If this deal is signed for the next 5 years then it is the best value connection available, the only other provider is via Wimax and that costs more and requires a small dish although some say the connection is better  Currently we pay €4.75+IVA which is would expect to double if the deal is agreed.  If the deal is not agreed then you would need to get a individual contract with A2Z or with the Wimax provider.

A2Z is €15+IVA for 1Mb,  €32+IVA for 3Mb and €60+IVA for 6Mb

Wimax is €11.2 for 1Mb, €21.25 for 2, 28.30 for 4, 34.6 for 6 and €40 for 8 all including VAT

So for a slow connection A2Z is the cheapest but for higher speeds Wimax is.

Guess we will have to wait and see what happens with the community deal?

Dishes are being accepted, there are many across the site, if they are small and not in clear sight which means that they are effectively restricted to being on the roof terrace out of view.  Many have fixed them to the outer wall but this is really against the rules.  the wimax dishes are small but you would need at least a 1.4M dish to get TV.

Afternoon Phil

When we were over last time our TV box had lost Radio 4 and Radio 5-  we re-scanned the box (its the original Polaris one) and we did have all the other Radio / TV Channels as normal

Do you any idea why Radio 4 might have disspeared - cant miss the Archers while on holiday !!

 Excuse my ignorance I am a bit of a technophobe...I would be interested in getting internet access this year for grandchildren, I have seen the monthly costs within this thread albeit this may increase it suggests. Are there any other cost implications such as routers and so on ow much are they and do the service provider give them you or do I have to find my own??if so how much would they cost?? I have Polaris TV which I have had for 4 years and are happy enough with this but I know that apple ipads and ipods  will want to be used this summer???
