Hi All, With all the talk of meetings with airport and airline staff, it has made me wonder whether it is in the interests of property owners at Corvera Golf that we let out hundreds of properties long term ? It seems to me if we do that, won't we just become an extension of Corvera Village ? I for one bought at Corvera Golf & Country Club because i thought long term it would make a really nice golf resort, the opening of the clubhouse and the golf course to the public would be a major step forward towards becoming a genuine resort, but if we fill up the estate with airport and airline workers what chance for spa facilities at the Clubhouse ? Are Spanish Airport Employees known for using a lot of spa services ? My worry is that property maintenance companies and builders snagging inspectors seem to have branched out to becoming more lucrative rental agencies and are looking to make a wad of cash by letting out a huge number of properties on our resort to airline and airport workers. This is where in my opinion Calidona needs to step in (FAT CHANCE) and say no way, they need to get off their backsides and stop this march towards turning our golf resort into a residential estate, they also need to start marketing the place as a resort to remind everyone that this is what it was supposed to be. Any thoughts other Corvera Property Owners ?

Vip Supporter

People here have bought for a variety of reasons, some investment, some personal use and some because they have been told that it would be easy to rent, and they NEED to rent, to cover the costs otherwise they just cannot afford the properties and having lots of repossessions around doesn’t help the resort

The lifeblood of any resort and I will use the real example of La Torre< Mar Menor and  RODA, is often the residential people who actually are not just local workers but also a reasonable percentage of retired people, long term Summer renters and holiday makers

It is always interesting for me when people use terms like my resort because as people know the phase AGM's have been happening and Ithe last one is today and whie I have been to evry one representing my clients more than 65% of owners where not at or represented at these very important meetings, did you attend or were you represented

To answer your question, again using real information, will the airline workers use the facilities SPA etc absolutely yes because you are not now talking about the construction workers but the managers, airline crew on stop overs and ATC staff

Also it would be a real sad state of affairs if a developer was able to dictate to the owners who they could rent to, or if any owner had the same rights

Simon I am not sure if you have had a bad experience with me or any other management company but you seem to have a real problem with us and in truth it has been people like us, who are here all of the time, that have been working really hard to drive the resort forward

If you want the opinion of REAL owners then this would be better posted on the Corvera PRIVATE forum as posting on here will probably only attract the critics and the people that matter(your community)& that make the rules to stop washing being hung on balconies, dogs being left alone in apartments all day etc. may give you some better feedback.

Hi Simon,

A reasonable question to ask and a valid concern.

I would however agree with what Roy has said in his posting that a sensible balance of all different types of clients is vital to any resort.

All I would add is that as the overall occupancy increases from which ever source, and more people pay their community fees then the more money is available to provide the additional services that we would all like to benefit from in the longer term.

 Simon,

See below for a more balanced opinion, (from Tom Stevenson, Steve and Jane and Inspectahomespain)

And as for some thoughts....well, some people could easily have taken the construction workers money for the long term rentals, but some have chosen not to, even although there is a real cost to this. And will the other owners be grateful that they were spared from having a few construction workers as neighbours for a year or two? I don't think so.

High levels of occupancy is the key to a successful resort, everything else will follow that.

The private forum will provide you with some more balanced opinion.

On the private forum you could also provide a summary update from your AGM for those people who were not able to attend, or were not notified that the meetings were taking place, and will have to wait, and then wait some more, for Housing to provide the minutes.

Also, I think we should be forewarned of what Inspectahomespain did to you, so let us know.

George
