Hi all,

Has anyone been quoted prices for swimming pools? Our agent has given us a price but we feel it is a bit expensive. It may be worth us all trying to negotiate a better deal together with one company.

Any thoughts?

Hi Barry,

I've posted a copy of a brochure which we were given last September by Mercers, our Agents, onto the 'shared photos' section of the forum, which should give you an idea of what you can get for the money. At least, it will give you a yardstick to make a judgement of any quotations you may get.

To see it full size, right click on the image and left click on 'save picture as'. You can then go to 'my pictures' on you computer, and preview to see it full size.

Hope you find this useful.

John, thanks that's really useful info.  Love your avatar - i've failed miserably in my attempts!  Do you happen to know if we have to get permission from the council to install a pool?

Thanks John,

I might give them a call and talk about a discount price based on us getting 5 or more pools installed. Are you or anyone else interested in getting one? The more we order from one company, surely the more discount we would get.

Hi Barry,

Good idea,  anyone else interested after reading this posting should contact you with this in mind. Count me in for two pools, one at 15-32 & one at16-79. As you say, 5 or more (or even more) pools should attract a good discount,

Hi Jane,

Thanks for your comments on my avatar, I try to change it on a regular basis, I think that they are great fun. I get most of the of the web, just type 'free avatars' and up they pop. As far as the pools are concerned, I think that you do need planning permission, hopefully, someone on this forum may throw a little more light on this, in the meantime, I will email our agents and ask them, then report back.

Kind Regards,

John B.

Hi

I think we will need Planning Permission and perhaps officially also for laying patios etc as my brother had to do all that at Camposol - but I think the contractor doing the work should know if its needed -

Hi Barry

We,

We've bought an Eagle, not sure if we would get a small splash pool type thing in the front or not but check with the builder and if its possible we would be interested too!

Cheers

HI BARRY

We have had  two prices for a swimming pool one from ABRIL 28 and one from a local pool builder  there was not a lot of difference in the two prices . The good thing is by useing ABRIL 28 the pool can be done before you take possession of your property if you use local pool builders you will have to wait till you take possession before you can start any work on the pool and it can take upto 3 to 5 months after completion to get the permits and licences from the town hall as we intend to use ours for this summer ( hopefully) in july- august we will pay the small bit extra and have it done before we take possession in july  The pool will be covered by the 10 year warranty from the developer  MASA  if you use someone out side of the development and there is ever a problem shoud the pool leak under the foundations the warranty could be affected I hope this information is useful to you

Hi everyone,

We have also ordered one from Abril28, looking at the prices quoted there is not that much difference and it will be done before we complete, also they advised me that Abril 28/Grupo Masa apply for the licences on our behalf and sort all that out so thats why I went for them.

looks like we will be having a few pool parties!!

Hi Caroline,

I don't want to pry too much, but we are only looking for a 6m X 3m pool with roman steps at one end. How does this compare with yours and roughly how much has it cost you? If the price is not much more then I agree it would be easier to go with them. The initial quotes I had of Masa pools from our agent seemed very expensive, but I think we may have been paying their mark up as well.

I have left a message for a quote with Abril 28 in Alicante, but no response as yet.

Thanks

Barry & Mandy

Hi Chic & Viv,

I am told by our Agents that  the difference between MASA and a local Pool Builder is in the region of £1200, which, if true, is hardly worth bothering about. Having said that, they did give me a brochure, which I posted on the forum 'shared photos' site, saying ' swimming pools at half the price of MASA ( Abril28 - subsiduary of MASA).  Without appearing to be too nosey, what did you get, and what was the damage? At least it would give all of us other Forum members something to think about, while we are all sitting around your pool supping from our crates of Lager while your missus makes the Burgers & Chips! (Tell her not to forget the (butties oops!!, sorry, I meant the sandwiches.)

p.s. Don't forget the Garlic bread.

Sorry, Viv, only joking!!!!

John B.

hi all

I ordered the tropical gardens with my pool and you have to pay VAT so thats adds a bit on also,  you can get quotes from Aude the sales rep quite quickly - Abril 28 do rectangular or kidney shape which is slightly more expensive, you can get quotes for the three types of garden as well - tropical, aromatic and volcanic, I got the quotes all in together and it came to 20,000euros - thereabouts, the pool themselves are around 13,700 euros which includes 6Mx 3M pool, the filtering, pump, steps, some sort of shower and under water lights (you get them free if you order a garden at same time - 900 euros)  but you will need to add VAT onto that - they will send you a quote with it all broken down anyway quite quickly.

hope that helps, I do have detailed pricing if anyone needs it for each type of garden and pool so I can post if needed..

cheers, caroline

Hi all,

I am at present having a pool installed by Abril 28(see photos). The price we paid was 11,800 euros approx and this included pump, shower, pool cleaner ,lights, steps etc.The size is 8m x 4m and this comes complete with tiling around pool(2 metres). They also took care of all planning arrangements. Hope this is of some help and while others are waiting on pools being installed I suppose I could accomodate a few visitors for the price of a beer.

Cheers

Hi Denny

Glad you put that wee statement on the end as your not to far from us.

Ithink you might need to order a bigger pool though after making it public. You will probably not beable to get in yourself with the amount of beer you receive (or was it the price of the beer you wanted)??????????????

Hi all,

I've decided not to put in a pool because the ground around my Eagle is not big, instead I have ordered a large hot tub to relax in and sup my beer, red wine and whatever else is available.

Also the hot tub can be used all year round is easier to run and maintain and lets not forget the bubbles.

Spain is to be enjoyed and that is exactly what Charlotte & myself intend to do.  By the way you are welcome to try out the hot tub and ease away all the aches and pains of the UK.

See you all soon in Sierra Golf

Phil
