Does anyone have any experience of opening a bank account in the area around La Torre?  Good service, decent rates etc.   We would ideally like to open account from UK, to facilitate bill payments before we take delivery - will we have to be there in person?  Any advice would be welcome.

The Halifax Espana in Los Alcazares Seems good to me.If you are a Halifax customer there is an easy transfer of funds available. They also speak perfect english and understand your needs

Do not go to the Banco Santander innSt Javier as my experience with them is awful. They charge a lot and give poor service. Ther English is very limited

Cajamurcia in Torre Pacheco were good, very friendly staff, good english & good rates. They also have the builders mortgage so it should be one of the best deals. They have been very efficient and thorough, unlike a few agents that I could mention. Shop around if you are after the best rates. Can supply contact details if you need them.

Hello Mike,

I noted your reference to Cajamurcia and the builder's mortgage.  I am currently looking into the mortgages for our purchase due to complete in July and thought the Cajamurcia one looked quite competitive.  I find the only drawback is the compulsory life insurance which, although I haven't costed yet, I didn't really want because we have sufficient life cover in the UK.   It seems to be an additional cost which we don't really want.   Did you take out the life insurance and did you find it reasonable?

I agree that Cajamurcia have been very helpful and prompt with the replies to my enquiries.

Sue

Hi Sue

Are you sure that was life insurance and not buildings and contents insurance? We had to take out Cajamurcia's B & C insurance as we went with interest only for 2 years. Taking out B & C insurance allows us to move, after the interest only period , to another product/bank without penatly, allegedly.

Mike
