Hi Everyone

Have just come back after almost a week in Almoradi, during which I finally got my apartment furnished and was able to live in it for 6 days.  Huge thanks to Erica and Walter, for their hospitality and constant help and kindness, and to Neil, for his concern and the loan of his heater when we were struggling with a totally inadequate little fan heater.  It was so lovely to have such good neighbours and friends around us for our first stay there.  June and I particularly enjoyed our lovely meal out with all of you, not forgetting Ken, Neil's Dad, last Friday night.  Can't wait for May and to meet up with you all again.

For those who weren't there, you may be interested to know how impressed we were with Arca, the furniture company I used, based in Torrevieja.  We arrived in Spain on Monday lunchtime, ordered the furniture on Monday evening, and it was delivered on Tuesday afternoon, including putting up curtain rails, installing all white goods and fitting out the bathroom with all accessories, as well as all the lights of course.  The lift wasn't working that day, and in spite of their policy of not delivering higher than a certain level on foot, the furniture, including the washing machine and fridge/freezer, was all carried up 3 flights of stairs and the whole job was completed in about 1.1/2 hours.  I would recommend this company to anyone who is still considering where to purchase furniture.

Now it's back to cold Coventry for 3 months, complete the house sale, have a great leaving party, then on that plane back to my new friends and lovely apartment in Almoradi.

Hasta luego

Fliss xx

Thank you both for your good wishes.  It is fantastic to know that next time I go, I'll be able to stay; it was a real wrench to have to come back this time.  I'm not sure of the name of the restaurant, but I know Neil and/or Wayne will read this at some point and Neil will remember, as he chose it.  I would certainly recommend it; apart from one steak (I think) being a little tough, everyone seemed very happy with their food.  The pasta my sister and I had was to die for, and our bill for two of us and drinks was about 22 euros as far as I can remember.  We also ate at Cafe Roma and Que Pasa, which are next door to each other in the street which runs down to the right if you stand with your back to the church.  One is English, the other Spanish, but both serve lovely food and have very friendly service.  Some friends, who have had a holiday home in Spain for years and have now retired to Dolores, said that the tapas in Cafe Roma were the best they had tasted anywhere.  The big Chinese restaurant in the main street is also great value for money, but you may already know that.

Anyway, I'm really looking forward to meeting up with you soon.  As to the occupancy,  we have been told (can't remember by whom) that they are all sold, but we seriously doubt this, as only Erica & Walter, Neil & his Dad and June & I were there this time, and the others say they have never seen any signs of other apartments being occupied, apart from the few of us we know about already.  Of course it is February, so maybe by about April/May time, things will be a bit livelier, who knows?  I must say I was impressed with how quiet it was in the mornings.  We slept very late a couple of times, and of course the shutters keep everything delightfully dark while you sleep.

I've waffled on quite enough now, so I'll close, but still looking forward to meeting you both and others in May.  Enjoy your next visits.

Regards

Fliss x

Hi Ken and Carol

I know this is too late for your current trip, but just heard from Neal that the restaurant we ate in was San Remo.  Hope you enjoy a meal there soon.  Also heard that a Spanish couple have moved into the apartment below Neal and Wayne's, probably 1M, so that's good news.

Look forward to seeing you in the not too distant future now.

Hi Fliss

Sadly we are now back from another lovely week in almoradi. We discovered san remo and had a couple of good meals there with tom who was also there last week,we also met walter and erica a lovely couple who we enjoyed a couple of glasses of vino with and the young spanish couple have moved in next door to us also very friendly who invited us to knock at their door anytime only problem being they don.t speak english and our spanish is minimal although we are picking a bit up.

Ken also went to the football while we were there and was very pleased that almoradi won 1 nil.Another bonus the weather was gorgeous all in all nothing to complain about at all except the fact we had to come home can,t wait to back there and meet more people especially you Fliss.

Hi Ken and Carol

So glad you had a great time in Almoradi. I can't wait to get there on 14th May.  Lovely to hear that your neighbours are so friendly; just like everyone we've met so far.  I haven't met Tom yet, but I'm sure I shall soon.  I'll be so pleased to meet you both on your next visit; we must all get together for a night out.

I'm on my last 6 weeks at work now and in the process of selling my house, so very very busy.  Will be so good to be able to chill out and relax when I finally get to my lovely new home.

Take care both, great to hear from you and will catch up with you in person soon.

Regards

Hi everybody

Can anyone tell me whether post is being delivered to Igfama yet? (with it not being registered etc)  I'm reluctant to give it as my new address until I know that any post will actually get there.

Any information would be gratefully received.

Regards to all

Hi Ken and Carol

Thanks so much for that.  I suppose I might as well wait till I'm there now and see what happens.  It's lovely to be coming to somewhere where the neighbours are so friendly, and I'll certainly take you up on that night out.     Oooh, it's all so exciting, and can't wait to meet you in July.  I think we're going to be such a lovely, friendly community.

Regards

Hi Diane

Fliss here.  I think I might just miss you, as I move in on 14th May, so we'll probably pass at the airport!  I'll look forward to meeting you next time you're out though.  I'm retiring on 27th of this month and looking forward to my leaving party, then it's off to sunny Spain and a new life.

See you before too long I hope

Regards

Fliss
