Hi everyone

I have recently managed to get the internet installed at home here in Spain after five months of futile attempts to get a certain company (no names, but you all know who I mean) to take my requests seriously.  I have been promised various installation dates, then give various excuses as to why I couldn't have the internet, including their having no numbers (!) and no lines to this block.  Anyway, I was then given the name of a local company, who, as it turned out, could not link me up without a telephone line, but who were kind enough to ring an English company for me, who then rang me back within minutes and arranged to come to my flat to see me the same day. The result was that within one week I had the internet fully installed at home and no longer have to trail off to the internet cafes every evening. The after-sales service is also brilliant.  Originally, I was given a cable modem, until they had wireless in stock; my internet disappeared today and after one call, quickly answered by a very polite man, an engineer was with me within the hour.  It turned out to be only a fault in the cable, but he brought the wireless router with him and fixed me up with that, all in a very pleasant and polite way.  I can honestly recommend this company as they seem to take customer satisfaction very seriously.  I'm not sure how much I'm allowed to tell you about individual companies on here, but if anyone is interested, then please e-mail me on my private address - fliss1944@hotmail.com - and I'll be happy to pass on the information.

Hi Tricia

I live in Almoradi but have retired.  I have heard various reports about part-time work.  I think it is possible to find something, probably through contacts, perhaps in bars etc., but to get office work it seems to be essential to speak very good Spanish.  I shall be starting classes next month, but already speak a little and practise whenever I can.  Of course, if you have a car and are able to travel, it will probably be easier to find work.  I plan to buy a little car in the spring, so I can get further afield.

Talk soon

Hi Tricia and Dave

I know where you are more or less. The bar is just before you get to the theatre (walking down from the square) on the right hand side.  I shall be staying here for Christmas, going back to visit family in December, and Erica and Walter in our block will be here as well, so there will be people around, although you may already have made some friends, as this is a very friendly town.

If you cross the square and turn right, the main road leads up to the school onthe left and a tile depot on the right.  Igfama lies over to the right beyond the tile depot.  It is a yellow building standing on its own, so quite easy to spot.  Hope you may come over and visit when you are next here.

Look forward to meeting you at Christmas.

Hi Amanda, look forward to seeing you on 27th.  My daughter also arrives on 27th, so there will be a few of us in Igfama, for a change!  Erica and Walter are here, and Neal and Wayne are due on 4 October, also Carol and Ken on 2nd October.  I love it when lots of people are here, as normally it is so quiet, except for the noisy banging of doors of course!

Hi Tricia and Dave, where in Almoradi are you?  Do you have an apartment in Igfama or elsewhere?  And are you living here or on holiday?   Look forward to hearing more about you soon.

Tom has just been here for a week, so that was nice.  Another convert to Bar Teatro, which, for those of you not yet initiated, is my favourite bar, run by English people, but still Spanish in style, and I take all my visitors there.  So far, everyone has loved it, and it must be the most welcoming bar in the town.

Look forward to seeing lots of you all soon.

Fliss xx

Hi both

Started to write this message and some stupid advert popped up on my screen and I lost the message, so you may get part of a message, then this one.  Anyway, good news, your gate is hung and looks very good.  I opened the patio doors for a bit to let some air in but they forgot to turn the electric off again when they left, but I´m sure it´ll be fine.  If you really want it off, I´ll ask Walter to do it as I´m not sure which switch it is. I´ve got one key ready to send to you, will do that tomorrow if post office isn´t too busy, and the other two I´ve put on your keyring with the door key.  We had loads of rain here today, so it felt a little bit fresher, but is still hot.

Talk soon, take care.

Love

Fliss xx
