It must have been a nightmare carrying furniture up two flights of stairs ours is being delivered next week hoping they are doing the carrying.I presume you will have also put your light fittings up any suggestions for anywhere reasonable where to get them from because thats another job for us next week.Looking forward to meeting you at sometime in the future.

Hi everyone,hope this is is the right message board 'thread'...Im going over next tues and loooking forward to meeting Ken and Carol who will be around at same time...I plan to organise light fittings and install a cooker,then apartment virtually complete..Still some snags to sort out..Im then taking my daughters over at half term from 21st Oct.,hope swimming pool open by then..I love the town and area... Looking forward to trips will keep in touch......Tom

In a state of panic at moment trying to pack and get organised for monday i won,t relax now until we are actually on the way . The pool was filled when we were last there so i,m definately looking forward to a dip next week if we have the time.You should enjoy alicante fliss it was a pleasant surprise to me not what i was expecting it was lovely.Will post some pics when we get back .

I evetually opted for buying all the lights from ikea in Murcia.  They were far cheaper than they were in Almoradi and to be honest I wasn't keen on what they had there.  The downside was that I had to get someone in to fit them.  

I managed to get a British guy who came with a mate and they it took them a morning to do the lot.  Which was not bad considering the amount of lights and the fittings. I also got him to put a security gate on the door of the apartment.  Thought it would be worth while as the building is often left empty and I really dont fancy having to fill the place with furniture again!!

The pool is still OK.  I topped it up a couple of weeks ago and the pool man is still coming to clean it on a weekly basis. 

I am out there 29 Sept next so may get to meet some of you guys if you are about.  Enjoy your visit Ken and Carol.  I hope you find time to relax as well as get the apartment sorted out.

I just read the thread again.  I think there are a few of you out there at the moment so hope you all have a great time.

Hi Wayne, Fliss here.  I'd certainly be interested in using the same person as you did for the light fittings.  I'm not going out till end October, but I'm trying to get as much information as I can before I go.  So looking forward to eventually meeting all of you eventually.  I am planning to retire there next Spring, I wonder if anyone else is going to live there full-time?

The guy who fitted the lights and the security gate was called Gary Tel   0034 647716021  I have no idea how he compares to other guys but he was very reliable and in my view well worth the money.  He may not remember my name but if you mention he fitted the lights and security gate I am sure he will remember.

 

Fliss.  I would love to live there full time.  Not sure it will happen unless I have a windfall though.  It will be nice to think that someone is there most of the time though.  I bet you cant wait and I am certainly envious of you.

Thanks so much for that useful information.  I'll certainly get in touch with Gary a bit later on.  I have this scary vision of being the only person in the whole block at some point.  Hope it doesn't come true though.  I'm really looking forward to meeting everyone; it's beginning to feel like we're the start of a community already. I can't wait to retire, but it's scary when I think of how much I have to do before I actually move out to Spain.  However, it'll get done and I'll be there before I know it I expect.

I was there for a few days the other month on my own.  It certainly wasnt bad although arriving at three am felt a little bleak.  I think the good news is that the more that are sold the less likely it will be that you will be alone for any great amount of time.  There is also the Villa that has been built next door.  This will make coming back from town less lonely I am sure.  The plot of land next to Igfama is supposedly having a new aprtment block built there too.  The sales office has now gone but the sign post is still up so I assume that building will go on at some time in the future.  Hopefully this will result in some street lights going in which would be good as the one on the factory is often smashed by kids.  i havent seen any trouble there though.  The only thing I see is couples in cars as I think the isolated area is used for dating more than anything else.

Thanks for the prompt reply.  I had no idea there was a villa going up next door or that there were more apartments being built.  Shows how much I know!!  I wish they'd update their web site; it still shows only about 8 apartments as sold.  I can imagine it was bleak at 3.00am; when I go over end of October, I'll make sure I go in daylight.  Unfortunately, I was only told that Nov 1st is a public holiday, after I'd booked my flight, so I won't be finished with all the completion business until 2nd, which will only leave a couple of days to go to the apartment and hopefully look at some furniture etc.  Still, I'll have plenty of time next year, so I'm determined not to get stressed about things.  It'll be a wonderful adventure I'm sure :)

Hi

Just returned from a few days at the apartment.  Weather is still great so I hope it stays that way for you when you get there Fliss.  I am looking at going back in November for a couple of days so may catch  some of you then.  While I was there I went to the roof where someone had put quite a lot of cardboard boxes.  It was blowing all over the roof so I moved it to the ground floor near the lift.  I assume that the person who put it there will take it to a bin at some stage.  I guess that we will get a bin once we have formed a community ,which can't come soon enough for me.  It would be great to have the lift working, the stairways cleaned and somewhere nearby  for the rubbish.  I have to say though that getting free electricity in the interim makes it worthwhile.  Made a point of buying heaters this trip.  There seems to be more of them about now but I got strange looks at the checkout as it was still 35 degrees. I just cant stand the thought of arriving on a cold evening and having no means of getting warm.

Hi ,It was great meeting Ken and Carol recently and thanks for being so friendly and helpful...Im going over shortly during half term with my daughters...They can't wait....Wayne I dont know anything about boxes,I just take my rubbish out to local green bins/skips so it doesnt accumulate...Ive decided to get a security gate fited to front door this trip ,even though locks changed,just to be on safe side...Also shopping for pots and pans[probably in Ikea]hope to meet some more residents.......Tom

Like tom we too took our rubbish round to the big green bin on the calle rosales so not guilty on the boxes.We are out at the end of november and will be needing heaters we looked in september for some but could,nt find any anywhere where did you get yours from wayne.Looking forward to meeting you all in the future

I did not mention the rubbish to create a witch hunt.  I guessed it was from someone who had just arrived and was not pointing the finger at anyone.  Sorry if I gave that impression.  I merely wanted to point it out as it will probably  still be there when whoever next arrives. 

IKEA was very good for pots and pans. Have to say that 99% of everytihing is from Ikea anyway.  As for the heaters I got them from Carrefour in Torrevieja.  They had some at El Campo Supermarket at the Plaza Mar2 shopping mall in Alicante too. There is also a decent electrical shop in the mall too next door to El Campo.  I did fine Tien21 to be OK but the manager there isnt the most customer service orientated person and if you are not buying everything from him he can be a little offish when it comes to arrangeing delivery. 

I noticed there are a couple gates on apartment doors now.  I know I feel better knowing there is another safe guard although I too changed locks as soon as I got the keys.
