Do you not think this is just a rumour fuelled by the news that there will be a chinese themed park near Lorca- why would they plan two theme parks in the region as the infrastructure is so expensive?  A positive point is that it would bring much needed industry into the region but I doubt that this is much more than a urban myth very similar to the 'Disney plan a theme park in Murcia' that seems to raise its head every so often.

However I  would like it to be true as I think PW would increase their buildings on Condado as I would like to see the golf suites become a reality and additional tourist attractions make future building on Condado a greater possibility

I think this is just a rumor, if you type into Google, "Harry Potter Theme Park Spain", there is no mention other than within these forums.

I would imagine this was started by an estate agent.

If universal did plan a theme park in Spain, they would build in near Benidorm or on the Costa Del Sol, where there are far more hotel rooms and holiday makers.

Also the Harry Potter theme park in Florida is a section within Universal Studios. The Potter Books are finished and the movies will end soon, in years to come the Harry Potter craze will subside and there will be something new. Universal can simply change the "Harry Potter" area into something else. To build a full theme park, based soley on a series of books and films which are coming to an end would be a financial disaster.

Its not happening!

Now I heard from a friends, brothers cousin, that they are building a "High School Musical" theme park, just outside camopsol! Cant wait for that!

Hi All,

I too have heard they are going to build a theme park here, but based on the "SIM CITY" games.  You have to start off with a piece of land, and build your town/city.  There are certain rule changes in this life style theme park as opposed to the game.

1) It must have 3 golf courses

2) It must have some 1 bedroome apartments, and they must be named "Golf suites"

3) It must have the best security in the Spain......... no Europe.

4) It must have the best hotel in Spain to accommodate all the top golfers who will play your course in compettions.

5) It must have the best and most helpful team of customer service staff in Europe.

6) The only people allowed to purchase the completed properties, must be very friendly beautiful intelligent people with a good sense of humour.

Ok I was only kidding about the theme park.  Do not waste your time telling me I'm being negative.... because I absuloutly love the place.  Also I am a patient man and more than willing to wait for what will be the best end product in Spain.

By the way, did you get the only one fact which was correct at the moment............... thats right number "5" customer service staff

I think Polaris greatest achievement is the brainwashing, or are they putting something in the water.

You sign up for a resort with 3 courses, a shopping centre, 5 Star hotel with Spa, choice or restaurants/bars, cinema, bowling etc etc.

over 4 1/2 years since my deposit went down and I have 1 bar, 1 restaurant and an almost complete Tumble Weed covered golf course? The best in Spain? I dont think it will ever be as good as La Manga!

However you say a bad word about them and its like you have insulted someones mother! Come on everyone, gang up on me I know you hate any negative coments! Am I the only one who thinks like this or am I the only one who will speak up?

No Darren you are not the only one to think like this, but you forget one big issue when you are being negative.  The fact that this is a ten year project and we are only two years into it and basically you have no patience, thats why people gang up on you, not because your negativity but because of your impatience and you want everything Now and you dont take the economic climate  into consideration as well.  Were you told that all these facilities would be available immediately? Cause if you were I can then understand, but if not your then just one big moaner.

As I have said to you before when PW haven't delivered after the 10 years then we can all start moaning and throwing our toys out our prams but certainly not before.

My glass is brimming over.

Ali

I was never told about a 10 year plan, maybe because I was one of the first to reserve? back in september 2005. Hence the disapointment. Are Polaris saying its a 10 year plan, or just people on this forum?

I realise that economic conditions slow down construction etc, however when I completed on my property back in June 2008, I stayed at the Barcelo (now Torre Pacheco Spa), you know the red spotty thing near MMGR. Opposite Polaris were building "El Boulevard", anyway, I went there last month and they have more bars and restaurants than Condado! They only started construction 2 years ago and they have not completed on a single residence.

Polaris dont have too many new properties to sell on condado right now and this is where they make their money, so they have no incentive to deliver the facilities they promissed.

Untill Polaris start to build more homes on Condado, they wont go to the expensive of starting the second course, the clubhouse, or any more facilities.

I dont hate Polaris would, I think La Torre is fantastic, with its pretty town contre, nice green golf course and 5 Star hotel. I relaise now I bought on the wrong resort, but I was presented with incorrect information by my estate agent.

Wow I am annoying myself with my moaning now, see why you lot cant stand moaners!

Anyway, I am looking forward to the opening of the Hannah Montana theme park near Mazarron, that should cheer me up!

Darren,

I understand your frustration and agree things aren't quite the way we were expecting them to be by now. I'm not being overley optimistic but we have to take in to consideration the times that we find ourselves in right now. If we had bought from another developer God only knows what sort of trouble we could all be in!!

La Torre is very nice so to is the Mar Menor and El Valle is stunning to look at but we will end up having all of what they have between them and much more on our very own resort. You obviuosly are in it for the long game aren't you? Or did you fancy flipping the property over as soon as it had a real value increase? If as i suspect from what you have posted before you intended on keeping your apartment then just a few more weeks will really make the difference. The golf course opening will make all the difference. Things will go from strength to strength. All the other resorts have had there courses open from a much earlier stage in there development and that must have acted as a major attraction and obviously a serious revenue driver for PW. I have played three of the courses and they are all terrific tracks especially El Valle but having spent three weeks in August walking round Condado's signature course, my opinion is that our "tumble weed" coverved effort is by far one of the best looking (toughest)!! designs that I have seen. This will guarantee players from all over europe and the world wanting to test there metal on it! Mark my words because in the nicest possible way you will be chewing on yours all the way through the 10 year plan and it won't take anywhere near that long!!

All the best

Jay

I do understand the frustration felt by many about what they believe they were told would be available and what actually is. My father in law made an early deposit in late 2005 and spent the following years persuading the whole family to join in (he had a vision!! Golf package holidays) because he wanted to be able to offer all versions of accomodation in various locations on the resort. He's an entrepenuer and as such has already moved on to another idea and another country and we have all been struggling with mortgages and who's going to manage this particular company! He thought Condado was an excellent place to bring together all aspects of his family in a business idea.

But, as usual I digress, his constant theme has been 'its a 10-12year project!' and he never believed the 3 golf courses and Oasis would be built in the time frame he was told, although the credit crunch wasnt in his equation. He still believes Condado will grow and improve and the golf courses, with maturity, will be excellent. But he did, boringly, remind us that 'off plan' gives the developer lots of leeway and delays mean that the developer have to go back to their local Council and resubmit plans especially if they have had to adapt and trim them- which is likely on Condado.

I've now sold most of my share of the apartment to him and thats why I await with baited breath the 'golf suites' because thats going to be my new start! Fingers crossed anyway., as I  think Condado has great prospects and after an uncertain start when I first visited I have become more and more enamoured of the place. The news about PW giving land to the Council was very positive for their building prospects.

Off plan and credit crunch probably have a lot to answer for.

Darren 100% right.

but just may be our apartments will be worth what we paid for them 10y down the line

so that would be a good investment (not)

I feel much better, thanks Jay and Quietman!

Part of my problem is that I am not a golfer, so while everybody else is getting excited about the course opening, I am still waiting for the Oasis, which is the reason I bought. I do hope it arrives one day!

To be very honest I thought the Oasis was as important at the golf- and I do play golf- but I thought thats where the golf widows, general visitors and renters will spend a lot of their time.  The resort is a bit out of the way and the Oasis would have been something else to do instead of visitors going off  spending money elsewhere. However I'm convinced PW have a plan for Condado and not a bad one- we have had no skeletons of half built apartments littering the horizon and they finish all they start- albeit slowly- but they are finished.  This is far better than many purchasers have had in the last 18months. PW have sold everything they can to their creditors including giving apartments to some of their subcontractors- so they can say everything is sold. Good news when trying to get permission for further building and raising extra capitol, this is like a game of chess for those of you not in the know. For owners it means the resort contnues to develop and PW have permission for another 1000 homes as a result of their land deal for the railway. Things change thats what we have to accept.

Take it from me- who wasnt at all convinced in late July and early August this has potential to be a cracking resort- but it needs time.

Oh no, I didnt mean to suggest I was in the know in relation to whats happening on Condado. Just  heard of a few things via my ex father in law who has had some property/land dealings on the continent and in the UK.  And he does play golf with Murcian who knows a man,  who knows a man sort of thing but I'm not flavour of the month just now, so even less likely to know anything concrete!

Just meant to say what prospective purchasers and owners see and are told is one thing but what really happens behind the scenes are moves not unlike a chess game and you can never be sure just what way things are going to turn out until they actually start digging the footings!

I read 'simplynetworking.es' and Spanish news items and Spanish newspapers,  and amongst other things there was quite a large article about a Chinese themed leisure park being given the go ahead for the Lorca area and a long awaited link for the high speed railway from Madrid-to Covera- to Cartagena. This seems to relate to the passing of land from PW to the council. Land I believe that wasnt for building apartments on but was part of the extensive land purchased in the planning for Condado.

I thought it was common knowledge that PW had purchased massive amounts of land in this area but that some was protected and so could never be built on. Therefore it could be used for other purposes provided the land area itself remains 'au natural'.

Some major underground tunnelling is forecasted in order for the high speed railway route to become reality. However, some doubts are still being raised due to the massive amount of infrastructure needed to make these things happen and the huge amounts of money needed to bring it all to fruitian. I also read that there were still some negotations with the Chinese to be completed.

I thought that was where the1st poster on this thread sort of developed their information from. However, money will decide all of this in the end.

A side bar to this info was that Polaris World had been given the go ahead for a further 1000 homes on Condado de Alhama- no dates though for comencement of building.

Could it be, tomgeorge, that I was actually 'in the know'? !!!

"It will mean constructing a 7km tunnel through the mountains, including land presently under renegotiation.

It’s been confirmed by La Verdad newspaper that the Development Ministry has accepted the route supported by the Murcia Region for the high speed rail link between Murcia City and Cartagena. It’s the shortest of the routes proposed and also means that the line will be able to connect with the new international airport planned at Corvera
Although not starting till 2011 and then taking about 18months to 2 years to build because of the complexity of it"

$1bn euro investment for Lorca - Hary or Hannah may not be coming but it seems the Chines are !!!

http://www.simplynetworking.es/news-1621-31-zeic_chinese_leisure_and_business_park_planned_for_lorca_in_1000_million_euros_investment_project.html

Chinese investors plan to bring 1000 million euros of investment to the region through the creation of a business, tourism and leisure centre in the municipality of Lorca.

The project is known as the ZEIC project, Zona Especial de Inversiones Chinas and will include a theme park for Chinese culture, a residential complex with 2000 homes, commercial zones for the offices of the major Chinese businesses operating in Spain and educative areas.
