Better than we could ever of hoped for! We have completed on La Isla - very painless completion (apart from delay at the notiary) all done in less than a week with plenty of spare time.

The Island is fantastic it totally blew us away, the apartment on the top floor has fabulous views and finished to a very high standard.  We could find nothing to complain about.  We have taken loads of photo's and will post later.  The infinity pool is great and we sneaked a quick swim in it (dont think we should have done!) and when the water level of the lake is higher it really will be amazing!

We also went to the opening night of the Clover bar, sitting outside in the very plush rattan furniture over looking the "pool" was very nice although the prices of the drinks were very expensive 7 euros for 2 beers! but if you want cheap you go up the road I know we pay a price for the surroundings.  I only wish there was a quality place to eat on Condado but I am sure it will come eventually. The place was packed and it had a good feel to it cant wait to go back.

Has anyone else completed on La Isla?

Mandy & Andy

Great Stuff Mandy & Andy,

La Isla always looked as if it should be something special, can't wait to get out there and take a look around and sneak up onto the roof to take in the views.  Only one more week to go ;-)

Congratulations,

It looks so great, we were really impressed when we came over in June. We could not get close enough to have a proper look but we're back out next week so we'll have proper nose round!!

Enjoy your new home

Thanks for the great photos and update on your progress, always helpful to know what other's experiences are.

Now that you have completed, I wonder if we can ask a few questions please (sorry!)as we are due to complete next month (around 19th August):-

1. Did you get a good exchange rate for your Euros? Has anyone used PW for this?

2. Have you gone ahead without the Habitation certificate?

3. Did you get your NEI certificates when you went out to complete?

4. How did you go about getting electricity connected?

5. Have you got all your furniture - did you shop while you were there and what sort of timescales do the stores offer for delivery?

6. Have you arranged for air con to be installed - if so what sort of quotes did you get.

Many thanks!!!!

Linda & Adrian

Hi Linda & Adrian

We used Money Corp to transfer our funds from UK account to PW we set a deal in February at 1.11 not that good now but was then!

We didnt have to get the Habitation Certificate we were told by PW that it had already come through? we were given a copy at the Notiary's office when we signed.

We got our NIE numbers which were arranged again by PW - we were told to be at PW head office where they drove us to the Home Office (I think thats what it was!)in Murcia with another couple who were due to complete in August the procedure was completly painless.  We were told to get a coffee and the PW people went into the office to do something official? and then about 15 minutes later we went up to the desk along with our passports and we were given our NIE numbers.

We havent got the electricity connected yet or the water but we will apply for that after the snagging has been done.

We have arranged the electrical goods to be installed just before we come back out in September after the electrical work has been completed and we have also arranged or a "deep" clean as it is very dirty and PW only do a mop and bucket clean.

We are getting some furniture -  beds and bedroom furniture locally from Campasol to be delivered nearer the date when we are out in September.  The other furniture we are getting from IKEA - we will also be doing a large IKEA shop when we are out there next for kitchen stuff etc.

Air Con - I have emailed Polar Air but they have yet to get back to me - hopefully they will install before the furniture is delivered.

You will be surprised at how things fall into place when you are out there.  I got all my information from EOS which I found invaluable.  There are so many people willing to share their experiences.

Hi Adrian

I used Caxton FX to transfer the money.  I am still using them to do free transfers to my Spanish bank as and when I need to.  Minimum transfer amount is £100 but that's not much.  I simply go onto their 'Fastpay' section of their website and send money to my Bancaja account.  It takes approx 2 minutes start to finish and is so convenient.  The exchange rates are far better than any exchange you can get on a high street.  I also use their pre-loaded currency card every time I go over to Spain or on hols.  Saves carting cash around and withdrawals at ATMs are free.  All in all a pretty useful company for me.

No - they don't charge me anything.  Obviously when the pound is trading at around 1.16 they exchange at around 1.13-1.14 but it still beats paying a bank fee of around 20 quid each time.  I love the convenience.  I set up the details on the uk acount to be debited and the Spanish account to becredited and away it goes.  Def no fees on their Fastpay service.
