Can anyone help with contact details of companies who supply and fix terrace awnings. Thanks in anticipation.

Hi Harv,

Had our awning fitted by Climasol. (645 Euro's) You can either have it fitted across the complete balcony or across half from the patio doors to the front pergola. Either way was the same price as tha area covered was the same. White runners and cream shade. They did a very tidy job.

Regards

Mike

Hi Harv & all Penthouse owners,

I've fitted my own shade/sail on my penthouse and was thinking of offering a supply and fit service to all those interested. I purchased my shade/sail and fixings back here in the uk and when I fitted it when we set-up our apartment in May, we had loads of people stopping and asking us about it. I would be happy to supply and fit as per my own for 100euros.

Please PM me your e-mail address if your interested and I'll forward some photos. I'm trying to arrange flights to be over some time in July so would be happy to fit any shades during this time.

Cheers

Iain

Hi again,

I've posted a picture of my awning on the forum for anyone interested. I can imagine 100euros sounds to cheap to be true but it is a really nice, simple canopy, which provides excellent shade. Also as there aren't any metal supports and cords you don't get the same rattling noise when it's windy that I noticed from other more expensive ones.

Quick question, we fitted a shade sail which has all the proper metal fittings but we have been a bit worried about leaving it up due to the high winds etc. Do you leave yours up permanently?

In response to the thread we were quoted over a thousand euros for fitted pergola shades 9with curtains) on our ground floor Jardine apt so plumped for the triangular shade sail and think it looks fab - it fits in with the 'moorish' theme on the resort.

Hi WW,

We have ours up and down all the time depending on if we're trying to catch some rays but take it down when we leave to come back to the UK.

I fitted ours level but will be raising it approx 200mm at the lounge side when I'm next over, so it has a natural slope for any rain water to run off.

I've fitted the same canopy on my pergola at home here in the UK and the slight slope and the rain just drips off the end aloughing it to remain up all summer.

I also use elasticated bungee cords as fixings to alough some give when windy.

The triangular one is lovely but our Penthouse terrace lends itself to the 3m x 2m rectangular type.

Cheers, Iain

Hi All

We purchased 2 x 3.6mtrs triangular coolarado sails in porcelain with all the fitments, for our pergoda on a 2 bed apartment. as already mentioned they look great and part of the moorish theme of Condado. These unfortunately are too big (my husband was not too happy as I insisted they would look great ). They will apparently fit a 3 bed pegoda, if anyone is interested in these ( at a reduced cost) please contact me.

Hi again,

I've just posted a few pictures of the same canopy(s) fitted at my house in the UK. I could supply and fit as per these but would have to supply 2 canopies & fittings hence it would be a bit more expensive.

Again if anyone would like me to supply and fit these when I'm over in July then feel free to PM me.

Cheers again

Iain

We bought the rectangular canopy from IKEA last year and fit it during Easter, worked well just using the springs and clips although we may take a bungee cord for the inside end as that is slightly too far from the pergola cross beam for the springs supplied. Our pergola is garden end though and I believe there may be a little difference in size for car park end pergola's.

As TED says above, we also bought ours in the IKEA sale and got two so can use all the springs from the two packs. My son has just returned and is suggesting a screen for across the back of the pergola as the angle of the sun as the day wears on means a screen would be even more effective than the awning above.

Just a thought for anyone interested in the IKEA "Sails" - I purchased mine last August (early August) - IKEA had already decided that the English Summer was over and it was time to get rid of stock - so they were reduced, initially to £9.99, then when I checked the triangular ones were £1.99!!  - So if you haven't sorted anything in the next month or so, suggest you keep an eye out!

I have used 2 of these folded back on themselves for the top floor, Jardins pegoda and they fit fine, and easy to remove when I leave.  However, I got 4 packs - so I could use the extra fittings, as at that price it was cheaper than buying the hooks and springs from B&Q!

HI, we got the IKEA sails too and they seem fine and very good for the money but I'm sure you get what you pay for.
