Smelly Apartment

hi all,

Just had word back from Allan [delivery man] that the rotten eggs smell has re-appeared in our apartment  on Jardines 3, 2nd floor, can anybody out there shed some light on the possible solution?? It was there[smell] when we did the snagging last October, then dissapeared?? then came back to haunt in February?? went away again , then returned last week?? We are out for our first stay at easter and the only eggs i want to be sniffing are those of a chocolate kind!!

Could be many things but most likely drains,

If you have no washing machine or dishwasher then its most likely the little white outlet drain which can be blocked which stops the smell, I used a wine cork pushed in from the back of the fitting.as i dont have a dishwaher.

Also many apartments left unatended smell due to drains drying out in the shallow u bends. (water evaporates quite quickly) leavingsinks etc open to the drain. For this reason many keyholders run the taps and flush the loo on their visits.

Leaving plugs in does not stop this due to overflow holes.

Worst case the seals on the floor drains the ones with silver covers are not sealing or the drain itself is not connected properly, or damaged.

We had a bad smell in our apartment in Jardin 4 last Oct too.Hubby traced to pipe underneath breakfast bar which had not been sealed.Did similar thing as Mick and this seemed to work.Have been back twice since then and no more  bad smells.Try whe wine cork.Good luck
