It's always worth keeping an eye on what is happening on the Roda forum.  It seems that a couple of people have been told that the management of the Clubhouse and Restaurant seem to be changing ie away from DeVere.  Has anyone visited Roda recently and heard of this?  Could calidona please enlighten us on this before the rumour mill goes into overdrive.

It's also interesting to note that there is some concern over the new facilities that are being put into the development ie they might be being built where the hotel was supposed to be situated and I also note that the new car park and facilties will improve the ease of access to the site- its really difficult to tell from the information that Calidona have released so far - so again any further clarification would be most welcome.

Hi Russ,

Have just heard that the service at Roda Clubhouse is 100% better since the change, also prices have come down slightly.

It's good to hear that the service has improved, the food was always good but let down by slow and inconsistent service.

I am however concerned that it might be that the De Vere group is slimming down (if not withdrawing completely) from Roda.  If I owned a property on Roda I would be very concerned about this.

What the situation may be for Corvera is anyone's guess.

http://www.devere-hotels.com/about-de-vere/news

If you visit the De Vere website, the only information relating to Calidona is a news announcement about the signing of a contract to manage the Roda resort.

There are a few anomalies here -

1  It seems clear that they are no longer managing the resort facilities.

2  The article was published in July 2008 and states that work was due to begin that year and complete in 2010.  This is obviously now not the case (but does give us an idea that even if they began work on either hotel at the start of 2010 it would be at least 2012 before it was complete).  Why wasn't the hotel built?

3  Why the heck are they announcing that a contract between the two groups had been made in the summer of 2008.  Surely this deal was made earlier??????  Wasn't Roda first opened in 2006?

If anyone could shed any light on this I would be really appreciative.

The reallity is guys

De-vere are going to pull out of Roda and that means they are not even going to enter Corvera

It doesn`t take a rocket scientist to work this out and stop hoping beyond hope

Corvera is doomed for years to come

WHY ARE PEOPLE SO NIEVE

Sorry to be straight talking

I am confused 65L when you say "reality"do you mean that it is a confirmed fact?

From perusal of this forum I understood that you were neither an owner in Corvera or in Roda so I just wonder where you get your information. Is it pure conjecture on your part because if it is you should not be posting it as "reality"?  There are enough doom and gloom merchants out there without you purporting to know what you are talking about when you aren't even invested in either development. Who knows what your motivation is but it is not helping the many investors and residents of either development.

The "reality" is that De Vere staff are still working at Roda and I was talking to one of them during a short mid term break visit there. I was assured that whilst the management of the restaurant and clubhouse has been taken over for a year by a local Spanish company this in no way impacts on the plans to build a hotel eventually but in the current climate I am reassured that De Vere would not be so misguided as to start a hotel now when there are hotels in the area packing up and leaving.

The new car park which will be nearer the clubhouse is under construction, the golf club car park was packed every day and I was there from Friday night until last night, the badly needed new sports facilities are being built, I spoke to someone who is taking a unit in the commercial centre and it is starting shortly, the new supermarket/convenience store is opening beside the old pro's shop and there were plenty of people in the clubhouse every night where the food and service have improved and become cheaper. There is a new layout in the clubhouse and there were certainly more Spanish people eating there this time around although for work reasons I have only been down here twice in the past six months.

That is the "reality" and not my opinion but what I have seen and heard personally from those who are in a position to know. I suggest that until you have verified facts you desist from posting rumour on this forum as it helps noone and is detrimental and upsetting to those of us who are heavily invested in both resorts.

TUV

Because we have invested and yes maybe the hotel might be put on hold, but we don't need a reality check!

We are not stupid to know that some people on this forum may lose thousands of pounds in this investment due to the economic downturn and we certainly don't need someone from outside to add fuel to this without verification.

Unless you have something positive to say, don't bother!!

This is my last post on the matter.

but please stop dreaming the dream

I am a realist

We all know about the carpark extension etc if you look back it was actually me who confirmed this whilst I was at Roda in January and seen the wagons etc move in

On the original plans there was a large round shaped commercial center, now see what gets built a few units AND WHEN?????????????????

I cant help but get wound up by thick what I call MAYBE people

Sorry end of and good look

i am an owner on roda phase 4 , if its any help to this debate i can relate some FACTS on my own case

1/ bought property 2006 for delivery summer 2008 , its now feb 09 property not built ... FACT

2/ marketing literature and sales personel  5* hotel and spa ( decision on building hotel delayed end 09 notice wording of decision to build)  no hotel or spa .....FACT

3/ exclusive private owners beach club , its not private and is open to the general public ......FACT

4/ calidona will have had interest on my money for 4 years by the time my unit is due to be completed and have flatly refused to allacate   the 2 years interest caused by delays against the price of the unit .... FACT

5/ calidona have not completed a development on time and to sales literature spec ( and thats in boom times ) ... FACT

6/ phase 5 mothballed indefinatly ( the development will be an unfinished building site ) ...FACT

in the meantime i will be expected to complete on the most expensive and exclusive phase of roda with facalaties not complete .... FACT

all of this is a great shame as i believe roda could be a great resort but as clients we have been let down badly by the developer , nobody knows what will happen in the future but what we do know is the track record of calidona to date , will corvera be different ? i hope so for you guys .

Thanks for that Searay, I do understand, lets hope that Calidona doesn't end up like Santa Anna. My gut feeling is we shall have 2 resorts that we will be proud off. Lets be patient a wee bit longer!

arab1

with all due respect i am a long way in front of you in the calidona process , patience is exactly what calidona want and it is costing you a lot of money , do you in all honesty believe you are going to get what you are going expected to pay for ? look at the track record  , when  and if you complete the chances are your units are going to be worth 30-50% less than you paid with very little chance of rental , i guess at the end of the day the choice is yours , in my situation ( again fact ) i think four years is stretching anybodys patience !!  maybe youre more patient than i am  either way good luck with your purchase .

Hi Searay

Remember according to Spanish Consumer law you don't have to complete on your apartment until Calidona have completed All facilities advertised in the literature that sold you the property, (this is correct according to several Spanish Lawyers).

65 WL if you are thinking of topping yourself because everything in life is S**t and no good will evr come of anything, then please don't do it as your comments really make me smile.

Jst reelized I cant spel eever, or is it I cccan't type.

hi steve ,

many thanks for your responce , i am fully aware of the legal situation re completion ,  just one thing to be aware of however if all you guys took that stance the development would never get completed as calidona would presumably run out of funds , hence roda phase 5 mothballed as there are no buyers !! so how do you progress forward , as the earlier phases of roda completed on the assumption that the facalaties would be in place towards the end of the development it is the people on the later stages like myself who paid premium prices and now to find that things are mothballed is simply not acceptable , if however calidone want to revise there prices to reflect the lack of facalaties that is a different issue , but bearing in mind they are not even prepared to allacate the 2 years delay interest against the cost .

i guess the bottom line is are you prepared to complete in the hope that you may get your facalaties in the future , you pays your money and takes your chance !!
