Missed Me?
I have been holding off from writing this update, because there are some important things to report and I needed the most up to date relevant information, i.e. Date for the A.G. M. etc. also when they tell you nothing moves fast in Spain THEY ARE NOT KIDDING!!! And to crown it all the country shuts down in August
A.G.M.
Will be held in the Balsicas community hall (same as last time) on the 7th February 2009, why this date
· It gives us a full financial year to report, which will be invaluable for setting up next years budget, i.e. what the pool costs really are etc.
· We will know all the people who have refused to pay their community fee and confirm we are going to approve to take legal action
· It gives max. time for people to arrange flights.
FULL details and confirmation of date will be posted or e-mailed to everyone.
Debtors
Going into the last quarter and we have just 4 people who owe the full amount of 240 Euro so maybe the chasing/reminding did work, and remember in the first six month I was trying to set up OUR community i.e. Pool safety equipment. Pool maintenance, Service payments, Insurance payments, they all needed money, and if you had come over for a break and the pool was dirty etc. who’s door would you have come to !!!
Please check your bank accounts in case you think you are paying but are not, and remember this is the last payment which is due and there are a few people who owe their last quarter, also we have payments with no names attatched, once more check your bank accounts
27/9/08--- a payment from “Danil Service, S.L” ---- 180 €
- 3/07/08--- a payment from a foreign account------- 120 €
- 11/07/08--- a payment from a foreign account------ 240 €
- 5/08/08---- someone made this payment and wrote in concept “August to January” but we do not know who paid---- 120 €
- 17/09/08--- a payment from a foreign account----- 120 €

Finances
I am so pleased to report that we now have approx. 7500 Euro in our community bank account, and still more to come in from this quarter ---how times have changed
Post Boxes
I fought and won the battle to get Taray to repair the faulty post boxes for a one time only, this was done last week UNFORTUNATLY, since the list went in (six month ago) some other have broken, and did the repair team sort them DON’T BE DAFT !!!But they did report them back to us, Question Do I get them repaired as a community problem OR are they an individuals problem?

For the people who follow E.O.S. YES I did get the lights repaired and back on the timer was that not a Diamond of an answer – or what!
Meeting with
I met with two Torre Pacheco councillors this week and some of the discussions were
· The control of the community youth centre and playing area – as far as lights out, I think the best we can hope for will be an eleven o clock shutdown of the sports area, this will be controlled by a caretaker type person
· Extension to the height of the fence to stop balls coming over into the gardens etc.
· Possible landscaping in front of the fence to stop some noise, and enhance the visual look of the area
· The cleaning of the streets, - The council are going to send an official letter to Taray as this is still their area (Even though Taray have told me this is Torre Pacheco councils responsibility)
· I asked for help in getting some of the waste areas cleaned, - The council are sending an official letter to the builder responsible for the area at the bottom of Pedro Cano
I also asked for help in pushing Taray to complete the workscope to the council’s satisfaction this would allow hand over of our community to Torre Pacheco
I could tell you I thought it was a good meeting but only results will confirm this
Miscellaneous
Over the last few months while I have been at meetings, e-mails and key hand outs I have not been blind to the fact I have a little band of helpers who cut flowers and empty bins at the pool, clean walls etc. only the other day I saw my neighbours Brian and Chris giving the pool iron work a good clean EXCELLENT, Many THANKS to you all for this. Yes it’s every body’s community
The pool – After discussion with the pool person he is keeping a weekly clean going for just a little while longer ---all in the price!!! This year has been a good learning curve about our pool and what is needed to keep it in top condition we would be stupid to change this contract now, remember this is the water that’s to last a good number of years, and YES we could have enough money to change the grass area
The neighbourly help thing is well and truly up and running and it must be comforting for the holiday home owner to know that in many instances someone is giving their place a check, clean etc.
I am asked on occasions if I know someone who rents/sells houses on our estate well we have a man and wife team who are actually in this business, John and Lyn (King), they can be contacted at
