Patio Door Lock

Hi

On a recent visit to our apartment I got locked out on the balcony - because the spring on the patio door lock automatically locked when I closed over the door. Luckily there was someone inside to let me in - but it could happen again easily when everyone is outside.

The obvious solution would be to leave the door slightly open, but we were having mosquito problems so we didn't want to do this.

Has anyone found a solution to this problem, other than removing the lock?

I'd appreciate any suggestions.

We have had fly screens fitted to both bathroom windows and the 2 patio doors, really good as we now leave the doors/windows open to let in some fresh air.

Carefully take handle off (2 or 3 mm alen key) you will see a spring , take out .
