Yes, i agree, we went on the 27th july and people were coming in on dingys from boats further out. I dont think this would be a problem off peak, but especially july/august, and as we were told, it should be exclusive for Roda.

I am shocked and surprised that there were non owners using the pool area as the privacy aspect of the beach club was a big selling point for most of us owners. There should be a monitoring system in place so that owners have their privileges respected by the staff.

We had no problems when we were there and I agree that the pool area should be exclusive to owners at Roda otherwise what is the point of a "private" beach club. I can appreciate that commercial interests would dictate that outsiders could use the bar and restaurant facilities given the throughput of people on the La Manga Strip in the summer but not the pool as we would have a lot more privacy on the Roda site itself!!!!

I hope that it can be clarified soon for all of us or it will just be another one of those things that will annoy owners intensely - right up there with owners who don´t pay their community fees and expect you, me and others to subsidise their enjoyment of the facilities at Roda !!!!

We visited the Beach Club last weekend; overall it was very good even though the journey is a bit long! However worth noting is that discount isn't applied automatically, even though we wore the orange wrist bands showing we were owners. I remembered to show my card at the bar, but forgot in the restaurant!!

Next time I will drive & wear my Roda card round my neck!

Mike

When we visited the Beach Club on the opening week, we drove there.
Noone asked if we were from Roda but proceeded to give us the armbands.

Come to think of it, noone did anything for us.  We had to ask where the changing rooms where etc.  We then had to go back and ask for keys for the lockers.  I do not think the staff are trained in hospitality.

On the food side - my husband's meal appeared and just as he was about to eat it, someone snatched it away saying it was the wrong meal.  My meal was cold and I asked to have it replaced which meant my husband ate by himself and subsequently I ate by myself.  The waiter took our drinks order before the food order and we had to remind him when our food came that we hadn't had our drinks.  He then had the audacity to say we hadn't ordered any and went onto argue with us until he regained his memory.  He was quite flippant with his apology!

Just my thoughts!!

We were at the beach club 3 times in July/August. First time there was a thunderstorm- very dramatic. The staff could not have been more helpful. We were served free coffees to cheer us up. The lunch was excellent. By the afternoon the storm had passed so we enjoyed both pool and beach. The other two times it was busier but service and friendliness was very good. Think the beach club is a real asset. Many of those there were renting on Roda.

just back from beach club for the first time since it reopened, and thought id get myh tuppence in ;-)

first of all we aranged to go at 2pm after reading pamphlet which was given to us at clubhouse - only to find at 2.15 that the times have been changed from 10am, 12 noon, and 2pm pickups to 11am, 1pm, and 3pm pickups!

we went to clubhouse and they appologised for not telling us and told us to speak to beach club manager for free drinks.
the manager rodrigo was not in today but his assistant - whose name i did not catch - could not have been nicer!
he appologised and told us to have free drinks.

please anyone booking beach club double check times to and from as they seem to change monthly.
the leaflet showing times was seemingly from june, but still up in window of service office.

first impressions of the place were great, although no one offered us owners armbands even when i showed our card.

i think i noticed only 2 or 3 peolpe ther with wristbands so you had no idea who the owners were.
we saw a few people wander in who were not owners as we heard the receptionist ask.

this is fair enough but the pool area was full and im sure ther was probably non owners there, so what if we wanted to use it?

anyway we went to beach, which was cleaner than the lat time but could still do with maybe some imported sand or at least a rake a couple of times a day.
there is good snorkeling out by the two islands if you take the time to wade out there.

we ate at pool bar around 6pm but had to wait 30 mins to be offerd drinks - only after i went to bar myself.
then after another 20 mins i spotted out drinks on the bar but no one wasbringing them over.
i eventually went inside and offered to take them over myself, but the waiter ,who then looked after us superbly, promptly brought them over.

i think they could do with some more staff on at pool bar especially.

they also def need more ashtrays as ther was loads of butts lying around on floor of pool bar - disgusting - and we saw a few people smoking just flicking ash on ground because they had no ashtrays, but people walk there barefooted!

the food was quite good, just not as good as clubhouse , which we found excellent.

when we were leaving the staff were setting up lots of new , huge umbrellas, to replace the existing ones, which shows they are learning what people want and are constantly changing to suit.
i think they will get it right and do believe it will be fantastic as they learn.

i tried to log on upstairs, which was nice by the way, but i could not get online.
dont know if this is a temp thing or if i was missing something?

we took the ferry this time but to be honest it was a bit slower overall as driving yourself, with the only benefits as being able to have a drink.
personally i think the convenience of not being stuck to times is worth the drive.

we again were unlucky to catch the swing bridge up both coming and going so the bus journey at the la manga side was about 20 mins each time.

if anyone at roda is reading i would like to say you are on the right tracks but it would be so much better once you have the watersports on site and if you could get some kind of ferry closer it would be fantastic.

we did enjoy our trip there today but thought we would share our experiences and hopefully some of the info above will be of help to someone ;-)

  Hi All

Just put on a few pics of the beach club, it looks great.

Linda went there Wednesday, had a great day in the pool with the family. They drove and were very lucky with traffic as it only took about 45 mins (that was the good part). Now the bad part. The food and service was rubbish, so bad the manager apologised and there was no charge. Small consolation as the food was un-edible and they came away very hungry and well cheesed off!!!

We have written an official complaint to Roda and hope they get their act together. It is very hard when people ask you what the the beach club is like. We want to promote Roda as much as the next person, but it’s a sad state of affairs when you can’t say great things about what is supposed to be one of the main selling points of the development. When the club first opened I said they can only get better, its just a glitch..............................WRONG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hi Mike

I hope this was the same manager that gave my family a free dinner after roughly the same experience in the Club House. in May.  I resisted posting about it at the time but since Mike has, thought I would say something as well.

Also, I have just had some guests who stayed at my place last week say they thought the Resort fantastic but that the Beach Club catering left a lot to be desired .  I understand most of the management staff came from De Vere but they have not got it right yet.  What a shame - I really, really, really want all of their hospitality operations to be just the best and for everyone to come away and say how fantastic.  It is obviously good in parts but its such a shame I can't post a big vote of total confidence.

But, this is season 1 for the Beach Club proper and the Casa Club, so let's hope they have a debrief session and realise that that they have really got to get it right all of the time.

I personally am a bit worried about the BEach Club being a free for all.

Does anyone have any comments on this?

Sandra

i was also told yesterday that you  can go to san javier and get the ferry for 4 euros.
roda has made out that the bus was free and we were only paying for the ferry?
i know and extra 4 euros for the bus trips does not sound much, but our guests were a family of 6, and anyway it is misleading.
they thought that paying 72 euros and then the food not great for the price and lack of activities onsite - iit was not really worth it.
when we went over there was so many people waiting for the return ferry that we though we might not get on , which would have been dissapointing since we had already paid.
i think the sooner roda get a more direct ferry nearer the club or waive the fees altogether the better.

Ferry ticket is 4,50 SINGLE.

I believe an extre 3 euros for  a shuttle bus service on both sides is fair enough.

Do not repeat everything you hear..... It leads to misinforming..

Hi Everyone
My son has just come back from Roda and had a great time. Just one question for Roda:
We are buying  an apartment on a Golf and BEACH Resort . That is what we are paying for. The exclusive Beach Club is within the price we are paying.  Why then was my sons family asked if they were from Roda and when answering "yes" they were informed that they would then get a 10% discount. If they were not from Roda they would have to pay full price.  This seems to say that the Beach Club is for any and everyone.  If that is the case then I want a reduction in the price that we are paying as we are paying for something which we are not getting. - Exclusivity!
I can understand Rodas desire to make the Beach Club pay but not ot our expense. This devalues our investment.
What does everyone else feel?

Good point WT

Likewise sandrab is it helpful trying to stir things up with sneaky little throw away lines like

" I personally am a bit worried about the BEach Club being a    free for all.
(First time it has been called a free for all, but  you should get plenty attention  with the headline news and maybe a job with the News of the World as a reporter )

Does anyone have any comments on this?"

What do you want to hear back????

Gossip  is not helpful. Stick to the facts

India - You are really a very rude person - everyone is entitled to their opinion - you certainly let yours be known often enough!

How dare anyone have a personal dig at someone on this forum!!
Whatever happened to "freedom of speech"?

I for one have found all Sandra's comments truthful and she has been a very helpful person right from the beginning of this forum always ready to point someone in the right direction.  She has no other motive on this forum except to benefit others.

I also don't appreciate forum members having to use red ink to enforce their opinions!!

How much help and advice have you given other people India?

I still want to hear truthful comments on this forum.

Sorry everyone

Just to add another comment to my last statements.

Sandra is  one of the biggest fans of Roda whom I have spoken to and has always been.  She absolutely adores her place and the resort.  How can we improve on something if we do no have truthful views and respect from other forum users??

Hi all
I think Sandrab has a point that does not constitute "gossip".
We have paid a price for exclusivity and have a right for Roda keep the Beach Club exclusive. Gossip is founded on fact and it is fact that my son was given a discount at the Beach Club for belonging to Roda Golf.  Why should there be a discount if the only people who use the Beach Club are owners or guests at Roda Golf and Beach Club?
We all love Roda Golf but the price included the exclusive use of the Beach Club for owners and their guests only. - FACT.  From Rodas point of view  the Beach Club might have to be open to anyone - just to make it profitable.    I can understand this but if that is going to be the case I would want a discount on the price we are paying for an apartment on a Golf and BEACH CLUB Resort.

Muchas gratias Senor!

That is exactly my point.i

I was sold an apartment on Roda Golf & Beach Resort and was told it was for the "exclusive use of Roda owners and their guests" and that even Corvera owners would not be able to use the facilities.  Now we find the whole world and his wife can use the facility which leads me to the conclusion that it is a free for all - and especially when you are asked whether or not you are an owner in order to get discount.  This is not what I was sold.

Now, I understand economics and business and realise that that possibly only Roda owners and guest using the facility might not permit DeVere to run it on a profitable or even break even basis.  But,  I for one was not asked if I minded them opening it to the general public!

That is my point about the free for all.  And for the record, I bought on Roda right at the very beginning of the release of the project so I honestly do know what I am talking about!

Perhaps they should let the general public in on Mondays to Wednesdays and only us Roda owners and guests Thursday to Sunday.

What does anyone else think about this?

Sandra
