Although the weather was forecast to be a little dodgy, the planned upper village street party in Montejaque (Malaga) went ahead as envisaged.
The brainchild of Lorraine and Kryszta, a Maltese and Hungarian who both own a house in the village, residents and visitors staying near the top of this delightful pueblo blanco were all invited.

The "Maltesers" weren't the only foreigners (guiris) present: there were people from England, Scotland, N.Ireland, Wales, the Irish Republic, Germany, and Hungary, as well as Spain, making for a truly international gathering.
Those invited were asked to bring something to drink and/or some finger food. A 5 o'clock start meant that this would be like a Spanish merienda.
Tables and chairs were set up on the street and we were good to go.
By 6 o'clock there were 28 of us: 2 Maltese, 4 Germans, 2 Hungarians, 3 Irish/N. Irish, and the rest British. Most were homeowners in the village, yet only 6 were residents.
Everybody mingled well, friendships renewed and new acquaintances quickly made.

By 8 o'clock the food had well-nigh disappeared and the wine was flowing. As for us non-drinkers we were content with our alcohol-free beer.

The sun had disappeared and the wind got up and it suddenly became quite fresh. Most went in search of warmer clothing.
It was soon time to go home before it got too dark, so farewells were bade and guests began to disperse.
Well done to Lorraine and Kryszta for the organisation of what seems destined to be a regular feature of the 'guiri' calendar in Montejaque. Hasta la proxima............
