ACTIN, making changes for animals in Spain.

Animal care Treatment International Network has been set up to make changes for the animals in Spain, who suffer abandonment and cruelty. What we plan to do is to bring awareness of the problems to the world’s media. We need to promote education, new legislation and support neutering campaigns. It is necessary to get support Internationally to put pressure to bear on the Spanish government and to persuade them to take more responsibility for the lack of animal welfare in Spain. ACTIN plans in the future to bring about these changes through media awareness. Actin will tell the truth of how it is on an everyday basis, particularly in the country villages of Murcia, where there is a lot of ignorance and abuse. They will tell of what the volunteers deal with and how the abuse of animals is getting worse. ACTIN will endeavor to bring about campaigns for sterilization and education in schools. There is a need for a Society to protect the animals and this is what ACTIN aim to do in the future but we need much support to achieve our aims.

Chip and Carly, Parvo survivor puppies
Tuesday, May 27, 2014

Up to date pictures of Chip and Carly. Chip is a quiet little boy and Carly is a right little live wire full of mischief and fun. Both are doing really well after having Parvo which killed many other puppies rescued from Cruella. They are in the Crevillente area.

We still have 4 survivors  Here they are in the hospital. Carrie is doing a little better but still not eating and Chrissy is now the worst one but Chip, the boy, and Cally might be well enough to leave tomorrow...still keeping everything crossed and hoping these will survive to find their forever homes....

Update on the Cruella pups and Loli
Thursday, May 8, 2014

  on Cruella pups........

Viv, President of ACTIN, decided today that the best place for the sick Cruella pups would be closer to Actin and to be in their vets, that way they can visit and check on them and it makes life easier for all. They did have a logistic problem where they were, in various foster homes.

So, here are the pups in the back of Viv's car this morning, looking gorgeous. 3 small pups are doing well that you see here (although they do have parvo); 2 more also have been moved ..but are more sick ..and the other 2 sadly lost their fight last night.

Please pray for these to make it. The big pups, Loli, and Peppa's sisters Sally and Salsa are clear at the moment and are now in isolation, we are praying they dont develop it...please keep everything crossed for all.

We will be needing Foster home for the small ones when they get better....locally to Mazarron/ Cartagena.

Below: Chrissy and Chip are the most affected at the moment but they are in good hands. However, Parvo is a horrible disease and very unpredictable, so we are trying to stay strong in case of the worse outcome.

Below: Cally being weighed...the least weight was half a kilo and the most was 1 kilo...so tiny to have to fight Parvo.

Below: Carrie just half a kilo.

Below: Connie

Below: Sally and Salsa (Peppa's sisters) doing fine at the moment.

Below: Loli also doing ok.

If you would like to help with vets bills... which is a worry ..it's PayPal admin@actin-spain.com

 Thank you....

Peppa contracted Parvo and went over Rainbow Bridge today
Wednesday, May 7, 2014

I wrote about Peppa & the other Cruella puppies in this blog post here, please refresh your memories.

Peppa got sick, was taken to the vet where she was diagnosed with having Parvo, a deadly disease especially in tiny vulnerable puppies who've had the worst start as these Cruella pups have. Peppa rallied a bit but then got sick again &, sadly, she passed away earlier today.

Five of the other Cruella pups ..all the tiny ones .. are now sick too, likely with Parvo too.

ACTIN's first concerns is that they get the best treatment and they save them but the vet's bills are going to be costly and, at this time, it's the last thing they want to be thinking about!! They have just had all their April bills in, their vets bill is 1600 Euros and their residency bills are 1,740 euros plus they have had unexpected things and transport has had to be covered for the people helping ACTIN to get dogs to foster homes...it's a difficult time for many reasons.

IF people could help them - it's so hard to ask at this moment but they really need help...thank you - PayPal is admin@actin-spain.com or if anyone prefers to donate directly to ACTIN's vet then please contact ACTIN on admin@actin-spain.com  for details..thank you....and in the meantime .. please pray for those babies.

Great news about Teddy, the blind puppy
Monday, May 5, 2014

We have great news about Teddy. Blind Dog Rescue UK have agreed to take him and find a suitable home for him.

He will be found the right home from a professional specialist organisation BUT... we need to raise the funds for his transport which will be in the region of 250 euros also there is the small matter of his vet bill too which is 500 euros for his eye operation and inoculations etc.

So, if any of you lovely people out there can give a few euros toward this we and Teddy would be eternally grateful, go on it's only a cup of coffee. Love and licks and tummy tickles from Teddy xx

If you can donate to us for Teddy then please PayPal admin@actin-spain.com marked 'TEDDY'S TRANSPORT'

Thanks in advance.

Below: Teddy has discovered the settee.

These videos show just what a special clever boy Teddy is and what a great job Sherlie, his foster mum, is doing with him.

Cruella's dogs & their puppies
Saturday, May 3, 2014

There is a Spanish lady living in a village in Cartegena, who, last year, had various dogs who bred so there were endless puppies. Viv, President of ACTIN-SPAIN learnt of her & finally managed to get any puppies she found there removed, checked over by a vet then cared for then put up for adoption.

The lady had said she'd allow Viv to have the adults castrated/spayed but then decided against it! Needless to say the whole thing started again! The lady has been nicknamed 'Cruella' as some puppies went missing!

However, this time Viv managed not only to remove the latest pups but also ..with permission ..Cruella's adult dogs who were castrated/spayed on 24th April.

Sadly though now, there are more puppies to be cared for then to put up for adoption. The good news is that the adult dogs are not going to reproduce again. They have been returned to their owners, Cruella & her nephew who Viv has tried to educate regarding the dogs general welfare. Cruella's nephew was seen walking the now castrated alsation - who is actually his dog - on a lead! This is a real breakthrough!

If you can help fund the spaying/castration, other vets bills & keep of all these needy pups please donate through PayPal admin@actin-spain.com

 Thank you!

Below: This little pup - female - is about 8 weeks old and is ready for adoption. The pups are not going to be big, they are cross chihuahua and we can show photos of Mum....she has 6 other siblings equally gorgeous - only 1 boy in the litter...they are playful and bursting with character.....they are currently around 1 kilo.

Below: This is the only boy in a litter of 7, he weighs less than a kilo and is 8 weeks old....ready for a forever home and too cute....needs a home where you just have lots of cuddles to give.

Just as Viv was leaving to take the Cruella pups to their foster mum Loli turned up and she is gorgeous. She is very confident, sociable and sweet. This beautiful puppy was dumped in the road along with three 2 week old kittens. Named Loli, she is around 3 months old, she is inoculated and can be ready to travel. She is an all round lovely dog, full of character, loves all dogs, is child friendly and tolerant...she has possibly some Greyhound and retriever in her but difficult to tell at the moment....she is extremely cuddly and doesn't mind travelling.

For further info with regard to adopting any of the above pups please email ....adoptions@adoptaspanishdog.com

Teddy has had his eyes removed
Friday, May 2, 2014

Read the previous blog post about sweet Teddy.

Teddy's right eye had ruptured on 27th. Both his eyes were removed on 29th April, he returned home on 30th. All went well, he is quite happy to be back, he was very good in the car returning from the vets, he ate his breakfast, and then pottered about the garden re-acquainting himself with the place.

He seems much happier now he has had the operation, he follows his foster mum around everywhere, As with most blind dogs, they need to know where you are most of the time as they can't see you, it is a security thing. He is a good follower as long as you make a noise or say his name so he can follow the sound of your voice or what ever you choose to train him with.

His operation & other expenses need funding & it would be appreciated if you could help, even a euro adds up if enough donate.

Please contact adoptions@adoptaspanishdog.com  if you are interested in adopting or fostering Teddy.

If you can donate to Teddy's treatment then please send to PayPal admin@actin-spain.com
