ACTIN, making changes for animals in Spain.

Animal care Treatment International Network has been set up to make changes for the animals in Spain, who suffer abandonment and cruelty. What we plan to do is to bring awareness of the problems to the world’s media. We need to promote education, new legislation and support neutering campaigns. It is necessary to get support Internationally to put pressure to bear on the Spanish government and to persuade them to take more responsibility for the lack of animal welfare in Spain. ACTIN plans in the future to bring about these changes through media awareness. Actin will tell the truth of how it is on an everyday basis, particularly in the country villages of Murcia, where there is a lot of ignorance and abuse. They will tell of what the volunteers deal with and how the abuse of animals is getting worse. ACTIN will endeavor to bring about campaigns for sterilization and education in schools. There is a need for a Society to protect the animals and this is what ACTIN aim to do in the future but we need much support to achieve our aims.

Zlato, found lying beside the body of her owner
Saturday, October 19, 2013

28TH NOVEMBER: Now called Amber, she has a loving home.

8TH NOVEMBER: THIS BEAUTIFUL DOG IS STILL WAITING FOR A LOVING HOME.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Zlato is a German Shepherd who faithfully lay beside the body of her owner. The man who was homeless had died on the streets with nothing other than his dog.

Why did Actin take Zlato when we are not a rescue? This is why, because our constant and sometimes thankless work involves trying to educate owners to do the right things by their dogs. One example of a a man who has a home, a car a job, a respectable man who has the money and the ability to take care of his dogs!!!…But no, he is a hunter and his dogs no longer served him, so he put them in a dump and left them to starve. Did we rescue them, yes of course and now Kiko and Boris are safely in their homes in the UK.

So, isn’t it shameful that we constantly hear the excuse that poverty is the reason why people don’t look after their dogs…well we know that is total rubbish – poverty is not an excuse for cruelty and neglect of a pet!!  When a street man ensured that his dog was vaccinated and had her rabies jab and she wore a flea collar and a collar with an ID tag on, we know its possible that all people can take care of their animals.

So that is why Actin took her, in honor of someone poor, who put his dog before himself. How could we let her go to the pound?

Zlato is 10 months old, friendly, well behaved and healthy If you would like to sponsor, foster or adopt Zlato, please contact us. Or please donate for her boarding and her care, thank you.

Part of Actin's work is to investigate reports of cruelty or neglect.
Tuesday, October 8, 2013

Those that follow Actin Association’s work will know that part of our work is to investigate reports of cruelty or neglect. In every case we attend we always find a way to help the animals legally. This is the only way that anything will change in Spain for animals.

We now have many successful rescues from these types of circumstances and as we build up our records, we plan to present them to Town Halls as proof that there is a problem and that we are dealing with it in the right way. Consequently if our Association is shown to tackle these cases and just how many there are, it will be evidence that something more needs to be done and that Actin needs support to continue the work. If it benefits the community it can only be considered important and paving the way to change.

We are gaining more experience and knowledge, to get better in what we do and we are glad to also help many people that come to us and ask for help. We do have limited resources, yet we endeavour to do as much as we can. We also campaign for sterilising and education – but our main aim will always be focussed on prevention of cruelty and neglect.

We work with an excellent legal team who advises us and it is important to be absolutely correct in our actions. So, your continued support and understanding of our work is vital - we are different to rescue and we have an important plan and goals to reach for the future of the animals.
