I have an apartment that I am going to rent out for holiday lets. I understand that I need to declare 25% tax on the rental income. Are there any allowances that can be offset against this?

Doesn't the tax authority deduct this anyway and send you the bill at the end of year?  They assume that everyone is going to rent their property, so make the deduction by default.

Are there any allowances?

There are 2 issues here:

La Renta Tax which every non resident property owner in Spain has to pay annually regardles of whether they rent out their property or not. This charge is calculated using the Catastral value of your property.

Then there is Tax on Rental Income received which is charged at 24% of the income received not by declaring 25% of your income, as marinagm states.

You cannot offset any expenses against the Income Tax.

does anyone know?

Is  the renta tax due if the property is let  and tax is being paid on the rent.

what happens if you don't pay the renta tax?

Some say the debt is attached to the property , some say that it is not

hello Doc,

Yes, the renta tax is due regardless whether the property is let or not.

Tax is due monthly on any income from property.

renta tax is due from anyone who owns a property in Spain  that is not deemed to be their main residence

As to whether the debt is attached to property ---   Not sure

hope this helps
