Hi , I have rented scooters for my 17 year old son and two of his freinds for our holiday in a few weeks time.
Can any one tell me if it is legal for them to carry a pillion passenger in Spain ?

It is legal for them to carry pillion passengers as long as they have a bike licence. Helmets should be worn at all times, even though you may see the locals riding without.

Thanks for your reply!
Two of them have full uk driving licences and one has provisional uk bike licence.
Hire company have informed us that they can hire on a uk provisional licence, but I was wondering if they can carry a pillion with their licence.
Cheers Paul.

In the Uk you cannot carry pillion passengers unless you have a full motorbike license, which is not the same as a full car license, please check with the person you are hiring from as there are so many accidents involving these bikes in Spain. It is better to be safe than sorry, have a nice safe holiday
