any info on whats the situation with building work in spain im a carpenter

Seriously, if you are intending to be self-employed here in Spain, as opposed to working for another company, and are confident and capeable of generating your own leads and enquiries you 'may' stand a chance. My honest opinion is that if you require legal employment from somebody else that you are on a non-starter.

No hope rights now - Almeria has 30% unemployment -. do you speak spanish? 

You may stand a better chance if you have a company to back up you. However if you will do your business individually, you may have a hard time on finding a job to do. Speaking spanish can be a plus but that doesn't guarantee work either.
