Thanks for the warning Helen, it is all too easy to have your bag snatched even when being careful, as I well know when mine disappeared off my trolley in Aldi a couple of years ago in Britain ! I always wear a bag that is kept strapped to me either over and across my shoulder or around my waist .A tip I picked up from a friend who was knocked down on the Costa Blanca and had her bag snatched is to only have what is ESSENTIAL in your bag when out shopping, NOT a purse with all your cards in.
It is also useful to make sure you have the right contact details for cancelling your cards if you are still holding UK bank cards as it can be a different contact number from Spain than the UK number as my friend found out, after the distressing situation of having her bag snatched she then found she couldn't access her card providers to cancel them, fortunately I was home that night and managed to do it all for her from the UK .This obviously needs to be in another place also other than your bag in case it 's snatched !!
