To Xetog the modelo 210 does need to be completed.  The solicitor mentioned would have arranged a direct debit for the tax amount to match up with the form he submitted.  You can pay from a UK bank but most banks charge for this (it is a Swift/IBAN payment to the tax office).

In answer to Tricia's query, the NIF for UK non residents is actually the NIE number - they are both the same thing.  I have come across some people with an 0 after their initial Y or X  on the NIE/NIF and by removing that it gives you the correct amount of characters

Is is only when the form is validated that a reference number 'numero de justificante' is issued at the top of the form.  This needs to be entered by the bank when you make payment.

The modelo 210 for this year can only be completed online.  Details are sent electronically to the tax office which eliminates the need for the bank to send a paper copy when payment is made.
