Has anyone used a professional to do the snagging?  We haven't completed yet and all the advice by these companies seems to be to get it done before completion so there is incentive for the developers to put things right before paying the balance.  I would want to be present when someone went through an inspection but feel it would be good to have someone in Spain who could follow up to make sure things are put right.  The ethos of the company Hola advertising on this site sounds promising but I see they are based in Murcia.

Any advice gratefully received from those of you who have gone through this process!

Many thanks,

Jen

Hi Jen

I carried out my own snagging just before I completed back in July last year.  Maybe not the best advice but it depends how confident you feel. If you do go the self route I would suggest more than one vist to your apartment before the final snagging list is made up, also take a camara and a very good torch as you will not have any electric and the bathrooms will be dark.  I made the mistake of making up my own list and then e mailed it to Anna who was in the office at the time, only to be told I would need to go around with the company surveyor which entailed another trip back out to Spain. This was good as I noticed other problems of damp, not present on my first trip owing to a spell of bad weather.  I did complete before the list had been signed off, against advice of my Lawyer, as we had arranged for a family holiday in the apartment. All outstanding items were completed during this holiday trip, not that we had many in the first place.

At the end of the day it depends how long you can stay out in Spain to be able to monitor your snagging list.  Pauiline has a web site of apartments to let on site which means you can stay on the site rather than travelling back and forth from a hotel.  I actually have a booking from a couple due out end of May who are completing on their apartment and furnishing.

Hope this is of some help so best of luck.

Brian ( Kyleman)

Many thanks for your reply Brian.  Hadn't thought about a torch - very good idea!  I've had mixed replies -  I'll discuss it all with my lawyers and see what they advise too.

Cheers
Jen
