I thought I should just add our names to the forum to get any early advice.

Plan is to visit in early May to organise water, electricity, order some furnishings and start understanding the amount of work required to get the apartment set up.

Any advice gratefully received

Mike & Judy

Welcome Mike & Judy!

We haven't completed yet either - we have been waiting for the electricity to be properly connected (ie. not from the developer's supply).  Have you heard that it has been connected yet?  Someone said that the developers were hoping to get it sorted by the end of March but I'm still waiting....

Cheers

Jen

Jen,

No I haven't heard that this has happened, but  I am not going to wait for the permanent supply as I realise that with the development uncomplete it may some time before the it is in place and we will put up with the temporary solution for now.

I don't think this is a high risk  position and the more people who move in, the more the owners will encourage the developers to complete the development, which is what everyone wants.  I am not being naive and I have more experience of being mis-informed (lied to) than most people buying in Spain, but I can't see holding up the closing for this makes sense.  However as my wife will tell you I don't always get it right.

The development is very good, the apartments are nicely finished, a decent size and I am looking forward to enjoying the views.

Welcome Mike / Judy

I would just like to add my comments.  We completed on our apartment July 2007, we have had three great trips out and look forward to many more.  We have had no problems with the electric supply the water supply is now permanent.  I say go ahead and complete as the sooner you do the sooner you can sort out any snaging problems as you really need to be in the apartment to check all is working as it should be.  It took our third trip to get the aircon working right.  I tend to agree that the more people who complete the greater the chance of having the proper electric supply installed, but lets face it you will not get a cheaper power supply than the one presently installed.  The development is great the grounds are well looked after far better than most other developments where the apartments may be finished but no land scape completed.

Enjoy your trip, have a great time, look out for Thea, Pauline and Peter who are permanent on site and very helpful.

Brian

Hi all

We also completed in July 2007 and have had 2 trips to our apartment so far.  We will be over again in early May (can't wait).

We agree with the comments of Brian (Kyleman) and Mike and Judy (Egor).  We have a good relationship with Oscar and Caroline and they have been most helpful.  We do not regret completing before permanent water and electricity.  You have to trust people sometimes - we knew this was a gamble but when the Spanish Halifax Bank offered a reduction in the standard mortgage rate on this development (which we were told was unusual when speaking to an English person who has been working for them in Spain for approximately 20 years, he could only recall this happening twice before), this convinced us and with our Spanish solicitor's recommendation, we went ahead.

The Spanish property market is in a mess on the Costas.  The developers have cut their cloth accordingly but have still kept the development going which is a big plus for us all.  We can understand Jen's reluctance to complete, but so far we are happy and do not regret it and our trust in the developers has been proven so far.

Hopefully our snagging will be completed but at least 50% of it had been completed before we returned from our last visit.

Whilst writing, has anyone got any more information about the bridge over the motorway?

Regards to all

Mike and Carol

Hi Everyone,

We are hoping to complete the last week in May - just waiting for our mortgage application to be formally accepted. We were over a few weeks ago just to see how things were going and to see our lawyer. We met Thea and Peter whilst we were there which was great. We love the apartment and can't wait to get it all finished. We are in apartment 2.2   Block 20.

If any one is out there from 26th to 31st May we would love to meet them.

Regards to all,

Lynn and Phil  Bratt

Hi Lynn, just to make it clear. The PETER you met here is Peter Blanchfield, husband of Pauline, building 8. He was putting up a curtain rail for me.  I am sorry that I won't see you when you are here at the end of May as I will be in Yorkshire on a walking holiday with my sisters.

Best of luck

Thea

Hi

I am coming out this week 23rd-27th to see what is going on and to sort out our mortgage, the Halifax are really dragging their heels re the mortgage application claiming it is due to the current climate - has anyone had this experience?

We are looking to do our snagging prior to completion as we understand some people have waited many months to get the snagging completed.

We are looking to use the apartment ourselves and rent anyone got any advise on good furniture packages?

If anyone is living or staying on site this week I would love to hear from you to meet up with you later this week, we are in block 19- 1/2.

Please email me on jad123@homecall.co.uk or my mobile 00447878 846697

Regards

John & Debra

John & Debra,

I have also used the Halifax, but organised it through a broker Stefan at Mortgages4Spain, who I have got to know over a few years of e-mails and mobile calls.  For very little commission he finds the best deals and galvanises everyone involved.   It has gone very smoothly and quickly, but he is not using the Marbella branch, who in the past have been not very helful.  The internet banking aspect of the Halifax is very good.  Looks like we close tomorrow, but I won't believe it until it happens.

Mike
