as the central garden area on phase 1 is starting to take shape and the new paths have only been open about a week, i was overjoyed to see that already they have received the dubious present of some nice fresh dogshite,

would it be too much to ask that dog owners pick up after their dogs or invest in the shitefree variety, popular here in Spain !!!

i always walk my dogs around the complex and always carry bags and will gladly loan you one if you do have an accident !!!

Hi Everyone

Were out in San Cayetano at the moment the weather as picked up, wish I could say the same of the dog mess!!!! The central green area is been used as a dog toilet even the new paved walkway  is been used in the same way. I have seen some owners this week walking their dogs on there letting them crap and just walk away as if nothing happened. Why can´t they pick it up and dispose of it properly. Do they think we all want to look out onto that sight. What a shame the minority of people spoil such a lovely area. If you are reading this and own a dog on the site. PICK UP YOUR DOG CRAP PLEASE !!!!!

                                                                                 Regards

I don't know what the law is in spain regarding picking up after your dog, but I think if it is not an offence (It is in the UK ) Then the residents committee could make a rule. As for those people who have seen dog owners walking away without picking it up why didn't you  challange them at the time? Educating people to be responsible is far better than moaning about it here

I do hope that not all us dog owners are being tarred with the same brush as the irresponsible ones.

The offenders know who they are !!!! Also I was´nt  'moaning' about it, I was stating a fact. It is easy to say that you should approach the owners,I am not the only person who as seen this happening, so there must be a lot of people who have also witnessed this but have said nothing. I wonder why!!! These people should know better.

hello
i´m sure a lot of you have noticed the amount of strays that have been around Hacienda lately
we have managed to get 3 of them accepted by APAH    www.apahrescue.org
this is getting harder and harder as all the charities are full and some have lost their land which their kennels were on,
we have been trying for years to get the Town halls to take some responsibility both for the strays and for the carcasses that can be seen rotting by every road,
we have met with a brick wall everywhere,
the only way that they will be forced to help is if people pester them so i´m asking anyone who cares to continually ring the Torre Pacheco town hall and local police to report strays, if you word it that they are on the road and a danger to traffic they made do something sooner or later as there is now a dog pound in Los Infiernos but he will not accept dogs from the public only from the police
other ways that you can help are by using the APAH website if you buy anything on Amazon as if you acess Amazon through them they get a small donation and it costs you nothing,
also, they have a second hand shop in Pilar and are always looking for stuff so if you are chucking out anything that could be resold give it to them,
if you can´t find the shop give it to me as i´m over in Pilar often
another way of helping is if you are looking for a dog make sure it´s a rescue one,
also some of you have given us donations in the past and for that we thank you but APAH and the other dog charities are always in need of funds, i realise there are loads of good causes  and you can´t contibute to them all,
there are lots of ways to help out, as these charities are always looking for dog walkers or fosterers as well
when i say we, i really mean Victoria as she is very committed to these dogs and spends hours on the phone trying to find them homes, all i do is help with the catching and deliver them and try to make sure that we don´t end up with 16 or so dogs

an update on the 3
one was the little jack russel which was terrified of everything, which Victoria called Rosie
another was the tiny terrier cross that hung out at the security guards hut, called Melo
the third was the little black and white one that was about with Melo who turned out to have a microchip and had a home in Murcia and had been missing for a year, she is now reunited with her parents,
all of you that have dogs, think what that must be like!!

this is for anyone looking for a little pet
we have found a lovely  jack russell size little girl about 1 year old, she is an outside dog at present but can be a house dog if that´s what you want,
we´ll have her for a few more days before she goes to a rescue centre but we would prefer to find her a home as she´s a lovely little dog

Hi all, once more a dog has been abandoned in the village.  This time a small black and white bitch who was very very nervous and either ran off or showed aggression to whom ever went near her.

Tina and a couple of other people came to us asking for help with the dog and of course we couldn´t say no.

She goes to APAH on Monday (is rather a miracle that they had a place so soon as usually the dogs need to be fostered for several weeks), Barbara of APAH did ask for donations towards her injections, micro-chip and blood test, all of which must be done before she enters the kennels, she will also be spayed in the very near future.

People have been very generous when I´ve come calling with strays and asking for cash (€86 with at least another 5 committed), any other donations either before or after Monday will get to APAH.  I will, I have no doubt come calling again with yet another stray, although obviously I´d rather not, we do need to take some responsibility when animals are just dumped in our village.

I would however like to ask for some practical help too, if someone would consider taking the next stray into their home until they are found a place in kennels or even just for a few days that would be great.  I realise many people have kids and having an unknown animals in the house is something you may not want to risk, (bare in mind that it might be good for the kids to interact with animals that they wouldn´t normally have much contact with) there are however many others who have dogs but are unwillling to help, we too have dogs who get upset when another animal comes along but we, and they tolerate it for a short time.  We would appreciate if some other people would come forward and let me know if they are willing to help, not every time, just help please.

Many thanks on behalf of Spotty Dotty as she is now called.

sean96c,

Well done on rescuing another dumped dog!

I hope you managed to raise enough money from kind residents to help the refuge with injections etc!

thank you Tina

yes, people were very generous, Victoria collected around €95, I can´t really remember exactly as it has been a while ago but people were very good,

Barbara at APAH was delighted,

since then we got another off the motorway, last Friday, she had been on and off the motorway for about a week , up by Himoinsa, a lot of people remarked that they had seen her

we called her katie as she had rather large boobs!

I rang the emergency services to advise them that there was a large dog on the motorway on 4 occasions but although they assured me that they informed the police, they never arrived,  I decided to go get her before she or someone else got killed,

because she was a Rottweiler cross no rescue centre would take her but again with the help of APAH we got her into the kennels in Los Infiernos, just up the road, who incidently are looking for dogwalkers on M,W & F mornings,

Victoria, did the rounds of the estate and collected €58.65 towards her injections etc., so a big thank you to all who contributed

APAH are having a fundraiser on next sunday april 6th at the Rio Seca in Pinar De Campoverde, it´s a fun dog show and it starts at 11am until 15.00, go along, they need the money, there´s a cafe there and a few stalls selling doggie stuff and lots of classes for the dos

Hi Tina, I am woefully late in congratulating you on helping the very large bitch who had finished nursing her pups, (they, in all probability didn´t make it as they were nowhere to be seen and she was not distressed in the least to be going with you) you did the right thing.

I understand that some people objected to your helping her, it was for the best, be very sure of it.  She is safe, fed and watered and not in constant danger of being run over or abused by some of the neighbourhood kids.

I am only sorry we couldn´t be of anymore assistance on this occasion but between us, with the help of SAT and APAH hopefully we should be able to help any animal who needs it.

Victoria

Hi, thanks for that!

A few people said at the police station that she was very dry so hadnt nursed for a little while. The fact she was chipped meant that the refuge could get her home very quickly alot quicker then she would have got herself home.

Will hopefully be going over to Los Infiernos next week. Any directions from the turn off to the refuge would be greatly appreciated!

p.s they were very nice at the police station. Whilst we were waiting for Antonio the policeman was telling us all about the recent films he had watched including one about a dog. My friend and I were becoming increasingly concerned he was going to ask us on a date!

They were very good and were very happy to help!

Another dog has been found, probably dumped. He has been found by others but has ended up with me to sort out with the help of another resident. I have someone coming to pick him up to check for a chip. If anyone on site has lost a dog they have about an hour to come round mine before he goes.

I dont know exactly where he was found but it was Taray and no one seems to recognizes him!
